I didn't think KJ Maye looked bad at all. I thought that he was a few better throws away from a big game.

Funny to read all the threads bashing Leidner and so little bemoaning the fact that clearly our two best wr (Maye and Wolitarsky) are run of the mill guys from last year's offence. Cracks me up thinking about the people who post all off season about our wr "weapons".

A true freshman (Still) appears to be the third WR. Going to be a long year if Maye or Wolitarsky gets hurt. Hopefully we see more of Jones. Gentry, Gant and Holland are looking to me like they will have Victor Keise type careers (but they look great catching passes in practice!).

I don't need a Decker, just one or two Wheelwrights or Barkers. Even a Freuchte.

We already have at least 1-2 Fruechte's on the roster.

I'm really not worried about the WR's, they will be fine, I'm more worried about the OL. Give Leidner more time to throw and his accuracy will go up and the WR's will look much better.
Even without Pierson and Mcfarlane, TCU is probably one of the top 2-3 best pass rushing teams on our schedule. TCU fans believe Terrell Lathan will be an All American this year, Tuaua is a pretty good player etc.

First I was at the game. If we would have played at this level 2 or 3 years ago we would be doing cart wheels of joy. If TCU ends up being as good as predicted we may find our QB and receivers are better than we think. Carter and KJ didn't look to bad and lets see how they look after a few more games. Give these guys a few games against teams with a little less talent than TCU and then make our judgement, Now if we lay an egg against Colorado State then I will start to worry. Also if TCU ends up a less than top 10 team I will be more concerned. Lets calm down and enjoy the positives like the defense, kicking game, special team play, kick coverage, the running of Smith. and new recruits that have committed.

Go Gophers

I am optimistic about this season, especially after watching the game last night. I don't think we lack receivers and I think Lender is good enough for the Gophers to win more games than last year. The timing between quarterback and receivers could be better, and probably will get better. Much of that is just confidence. I really like the play action pass when the line blocks well. One thing I do wonder about is how good we are at developing quarterbacks and I applaud Kill for hiring Adam Weber.

It's interesting that Mike Leach is well known for taking lesser recruits and making them offensive stars. This is not because of coaching them up on how to execute so much as it is about putting "good enough" players in great positions for success and making use of schemes that put the defense on its heels. Just like Gary Patterson. I'm absolutely sure Kill knows all this (and much more) and is trying to make use of it in incremental doses. Now that we won't be scheduling TCU I bet you will see us borrow more from their offensive knowledge base. I'm really impressed with how Kill retains coaches and the team continues to evolve as it gains experience in the Big Ten.

I actually thought we did a decent job on pressuring and containing Boykin against a very good offensive line.

Agree. It's hard to complain about not getting pressure when the ball is out almost immediately on a majority of passing plays. Also, the game plan often was for containment, not pressure (Campbell at DE, dropping back into passing lane, etc.). Getting DE's upfield and having #2 break outside them is a recipe for getting killed. Their 4 senior lineman did a really nice job.
