I can't be the only one who saw Malachi Coleman absolutely LOCK THE F*CK UP the corner on Darius Taylor's 71 yd run. ...Made the whole play happen.

We NEED to get that guy effective in the passing game, because if he can lock up like that all the time then he needs to be out there. We just can't afford to have #16 function as a signal: #16 is in? -- that means a run.

It's how Le'Meke first started to see the field. Hopefully he has a similar trajectory.

Yep, playing time is earned. Coleman has the physical tools to be a difference maker, hopefully he is doing all the other things he needs to be doing to earn a bigger role in the offense. Feels like he is seeing the field more as the season progresses but it is tough to tell a lot of time with receivers.

He was also pass interfered once and it wasn’t called. He almost made the catch and probably should’ve. It was mid to late fourth quarter.

It’s interesting with Malachi, some scouts saw him more as a DE/Edge rusher coming out of HS.

Wasn’t there a Van Dyne who was like 6’5”?. Some of you mentioning Haylo or Harold Howell were like 6 inches shorter at least.

Harry Van Dyne

He ended up at Indiana State where he had 1 decent year.

I'd like to add Hunter Register as another WR that was supposed to do big things but never materialized.

All the injured players walk out with the team at the end with their jerseys on, so they’re easy to identify. I have yet to see Driver in such a capacity. He is MIA.
They are pretty quick to remove guys from the roster when they are no longer part of the team and he is still on the roster. So if he isn't there I am sure there is a reason for it and wouldn't read too much into it.

Seems like every year for the past 7-8 years there is internal hype about a new WR signing or transfer...
Bateman obviously was a difference maker, Jackson had a good, steady career, but the majority of them end up being just "OK". More volume guys, as someone has to catch passes...

Interesting, maybe not Rowing. Nice to see Coleman get some playing time though. I talked to his parents early in the year and they were pretty disappointed he wasn’t getting a sniff. Athleticism is off the charts

Driver was listed as OUT on the injury report last week so they're still putting out updates on him.

Surprised Dylan Wright's name has not come up yet in this thread. He was a guy who had all the physical tools but never seemed to be able to put it together at any of the schools he played for (Texas A&M, Minnesota, TCU).

Hopefully Colemen doesn't end up going that route but just proves that you need more than just great athletic ability to be a quality WR.

Tyler Williams was another one that looked incredible on tape but never seemed to develop into a complete package or even a partial package.

I see he has…zero catches for South Florida in 2025.

Not the most PC phrase probably but "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" is a common description for those players that look like they should be something they aren't.

Look at the formation on DT's 71-yard run.

Gophers line up in 2x1, with the 2 WRs lined up on the strong side. So -- by formation alone -- 2 corners, a safety and an LB are pulled to the strong side. The run goes to the weak side.

...And who's the WR lined up alone on the weak side, blocking the only cornerback over there?

6'5" giant Malachi Coleman. :)

Before the play even starts, I'm thinking: "If that's a run to the weak side, I don't know who's going to tackle DT, but I sure as hell know who's NOT going to."

Well designed play.
