It is shocking the number of SEC players being taken in these early rounds of the draft. LSU seems to have a player picked every time I look at the TV. I guess that’s why the SEC is always considered the top conference.

First round picks since 2010:

SEC - 111

ACC - 54

B1G - 50

Big 12 - 42

Would be interesting to see these numbers if you took out players from the following teams due to blueblood status:
Alabama
LSU
Ohio State
Michigan
Oklahoma
Clemson
Florida State

I suspect the conferences are pretty even with the exception of the SEC Bluebloods having a few more than the other bluebloods combined with the fact that the SEC has 4 contenders over the years while the other leagues have 1 or 2.

These numbers don’t mean Auburn is better than Minnesota.

I do think the SEC is as has been the best league over the past 10-15 years...I also think the gap is closer than some would have you think.

First 3 rounds:

SEC = 40 Picks

B1G = 17 Picks

With SEC they have Alabama and Auburn getting a lot, but every school seems to have at least 1 player drafted. B1G has only - 6 schools with a player drafted in 1st 3 rds. vs SEC with 13 of 14 schools getting at least 1 player drafted (Ole Miss only school missing).
