Reusse was talking about the Gophers being unable to keep good players like Payne or Hawkins due to other programs having more NIL and being able to outbid the Gophers.
to be clear - I am not saying Johnson is a brilliant coach.
I am saying that Johnson is at a distinct disadvantage because he doesn't have the NIL money to afford a better roster. If the AD cares about basketball, then maybe Coyle (or a go-between) should suggest to the collective that they give a little more $$ to men's basketball. Only Coyle would never do that, because it might mean less $$ for football, and Coyle would never dream of taking $1 away from Fleck. PJ needs all the money he can get to go 7-5.
watch how the revenue-sharing $$ is distributed next year. I predict that football will get most of it and men's basketball will get the leftover scraps.
This will be an issue in hiring a new Men's basketball coach. If they wind up with a no-name, you can be sure that better coaches refused to take the job because they didn't think Coyle would provide more support (i.e. $$) for the program.
