Looks Bad for the Boys

Can't see this team winning more than a couple of games in the Big 10. There are too many bricklayers and terrible FT shooters. This looks like the end for Ben Johnson,he promised recruiting in state. All he is doing is bringing portal players with 1 or 2 years left.
Welcome 65! Take my advice stay off the Off Topic Board.

The only thing still holding interest for me is to watch and see which B18 teams we’re competitive with so I know who will join the Gophers in being left out of the B18 Tournament. 🙄

If you don’t like the men’s team quit complaining. Go watch the women’s team. They are fun to watch and entertaining.

Regarding the Off Topic Board.

I remember the first time I actually checked it out: I assumed it would be a whole different subset of posters (not the ones who post on the sports specific message boards). To my surprise, the wackos posting there, are the same knuckleheads that post here!

Thus confirming we are all wackos and knuckleheads.

Nebraska got pasted by Mich St, so there's one.

The OT sports and culture board is not the cesspool the politics board is.

Doogie was on Skor North last week and said "the Vultures are circling" Ben Johnson. while Doogie said he expects Johnson to be replaced, he also said that he doesn't see how a new coach will make much of a difference unless MN finds a way to improve its NIL funding.

on another podcast, Pat Reusse said he feels sorry for Johnson.....

To be clear, pretty sure I'm not a knucklehead. More of a Butthead, though I have also been called a chucklehead, so it's easy to confuse me with the others.

Why the sympathy for Ben? No bad days.

Reusse was talking about the Gophers being unable to keep good players like Payne or Hawkins due to other programs having more NIL and being able to outbid the Gophers.

to be clear - I am not saying Johnson is a brilliant coach.

I am saying that Johnson is at a distinct disadvantage because he doesn't have the NIL money to afford a better roster. If the AD cares about basketball, then maybe Coyle (or a go-between) should suggest to the collective that they give a little more $$ to men's basketball. Only Coyle would never do that, because it might mean less $$ for football, and Coyle would never dream of taking $1 away from Fleck. PJ needs all the money he can get to go 7-5.

watch how the revenue-sharing $$ is distributed next year. I predict that football will get most of it and men's basketball will get the leftover scraps.

This will be an issue in hiring a new Men's basketball coach. If they wind up with a no-name, you can be sure that better coaches refused to take the job because they didn't think Coyle would provide more support (i.e. $$) for the program.

PJ earns his money asshole.

What a joke. I would give my left nut to make two million dollars a year, and I'd be offended if anyone felt sorry for me under those circumstances.

As to Doogie's point, how much more money would we need to match St. Thomas's NIL funding? They're outperforming the Gophers, and I'm told it's entirely about the money, so how much more money do they have than us?
