Stacy Wegner, executive director of the collectors society, scheduled Magee as the convention's keynote speaker after helping him research the jug in 2014. That prompted her to request the jug's presence for his address.

"The University of Minnesota feels like the jug really belongs to the entire state," Wegner said, noting her commute home with the jug was her most stressful drive since coming home from the hospital with her first-born child. "Apparently, the jug has its own calendar."
