So,

The line for MN vs U$C started at

U$C -19
then went to
U$C -13.5
and is now at USC -11.5

Did a plane crash? Did Barkley break his leg?

I am no betting / line expert but I do know for a line to move 7.5 pts that a LOT, a whole LOT, a really really large amount of $ has been bet on MN. This type of movement just does not really ever happen.

What does U$c care how much they win by, they aren't going bowling.......might as well make it a little closer than it needs to be and make some money.

SOMETHING is going on here.

Watch for weird plays second half....watch for a u$c win by less than 2 tds and since no one is giving thos u$c players free houses anymore.........they have to earn it this way!!!

might be that Virginia played them tough

but still I would think they will win by at least 12 points - this could be bet the house spread

Wow. I'm not a betting man, but even I'm tempted to empty out the ol' life savings for a flutter on USC. 11 points? Wow.

Is there any way they don't put up fifty on us? I guess our ofense is getting more respect than I'd think it would.

The world saw what was believed to be a behemoth of an offense squeak by Virginia 17-14.

That said, Theret could have 3 picks this Saturday and our offense will still have to score 35 to win.

Kiffin is gonna throw the game and laugh all the way to the bank.

Kiffin dropped 50 large on the Gophers and his Groucho glasses slipped off while walking away from the Mirage sports book!

At what reputable sportsbook did the line open at more than -14? Two obscure books opened at -20. They've adjusted but are still high. Reputable ones have moved down to -11.5.

At my book, it opened at -13.5 and is down to -11.5 now. The book is telling me that 98% of the action is going USC's way. Counterintuitive, eh?

Make your own conclusions. My point is this: maybe the virgin line was -20 somewhere decent, but after the first hour or two, the gambling community reset it at -14 or so. Any major line movement is exaggerated.

Soooo, you're the one who determines which books are "reputable" and which ones aren't? Congratulations!

In the post that's been running for several days now, the LVSC (Las Vegas Sports Consultants) had their opening line at USC (-20). The LVSC opening line is just a benchmark and not all the Vegas books use it to kick things off. For the most part though, LVSC are "the guys who set the lines".

True, right now, the Vegas books are ranging between USC -11.5 to 13.0, with the Wynn being the only one as high as 13. Regardless of how much money is laid between now and Saturday, I doubt the number ever hits the key number of 10, or gets back up to 13 at many places. Too dangerous of a number for the books.

I for the life of me can't find the book that opened at +20 MN. I'm a pretty big nerd about these things too. I check about 20 a week, every major book opened at -15 to -13.5.

It is extremely weird, that 90% of the action is on USC..yet the line continues to move in favor of Minnesota. I don't think I've ever seen that happen. In a weird way this is giving me hope that we can keep it close. Vegas seems to know something the public doesn't, otherwise the line should be at -18 USC.

maybe

Maybe USC is going to forfeit? How long do they wait? It totally defies any logic I'm aware of for the line to be at 11.

Maybe Gray is starting at quarterback and we are running the secret wildcat spread package.
USC couldn't stop Hawaii.

Maybe Jedd Fisch feels bad he sucked and he got all the play calls from Pete Caroll and gave them to the Gophers.

Maybe Lane Kiffin is a worse coach than Brewster?

Maybe?

im a gambling junkie.

I say it at 17 1/2 at Betus and Bellagio had it at 16 right away.

now they are 12 and 14 respectively.

I suspect there was a TON of USC haters (im looking at you east coast in NY and CHI with the money) and even Florida, that were hittin the gophers to cover. (obviously they just look at records and not WHO Minny has played)

good luck!
