Massive boost in recruiting for being known as a team that puts players in the league.
The Gophers are in a bowl game this year.
That bowl game is played in Charlotte.
That bowl game will be played January 3rd.
The guys who don’t play still go to the game. With his injury history if I were him I wouldn’t play. He should have a nice long NFL career but thinking he’s gonna match Cashman’s success I think is a little pollyanish. Cashman is right now playing just below pro bowl level it seemsSo to you this is obviously an announcement that he is playing in the game? That was my hope when I read it, but it seems odd that he wouldn't just say that then.
I thought the last half of this season he was fantastic. He played OK the first part of the season was always in position to make the play just couldn’t tackle worth a damn I think he was rusty.I am still a little surprised that Lindenberg was 1st team all big10. Clearly very important cog on the Gopher defense but always thought there was one more level we thought we would see from him.
I compare him to Cashman due to a similars patterns over his playing years here, working up to about the same level of play in year 4. Similar physical attributes, on field leadership, and seemingly work ethic as well.... Both modestly sought recruits who worked themselves into what they are.The guys who don’t play still go to the game. With his injury history if I were him I wouldn’t play. We’re one lawsuit away from players being allowed to do so.He should.
If these guys don't get drafted, can they come back?
No. It wasn’t. Our team defense dropped from 3rd in the Big 10 in 2022 (msm’s sr senior) to 10th. We also gave up 40 more rushing yards per game. That “easy replacement” was done replacing him with a future NFL linebacker. That’s what we said about Sori-Marin but he was very easy to replace.
He can opt out of the draft until February 7th. After that date, he forgoes his eligibility until some court rules that is an unfair restraint on trade.Don't think so, but they should be able to. He will get drafted.
Yup, still something that will count against him to some degree. It will probably what will keep him from being a day 2 pick instead of a day 3. I feel like he has talent to be a mid to late 4th but injuries will probably scare some teams away from him.He has come back from injury twice and played full seasons.
Hurt in 2021 and played all 13 games in 2022
Hurt in 2022 Bowl game and in lingered for 2023. Only played 4 games.
Played all 12 games this year.
I'm sure they take extra caution knowing an NFL career is on the line,
Cashman had multiple shoulder surgeries in college. I don’t think Lindenberg‘s hamstring injury from last year is going to affect anything. He played this whole year without missing a snap.Yup, still something that will count against him to some degree. It will probably what will keep him from being a day 2 pick instead of a day 3. I think he compares to Blake Cashman pretty well but Cashman didn't have injury issues in college and he went in the 5th round. So I think that's probably the higher end of where he will go given injuries. But it's the NFL all it takes is one team to get really excited about him and he gets taken in the 3rd-4th rd.
Yes, but he played 12+ games four straight seasons. That does factor in.Cashman had multiple shoulder surgeries in college. I don’t think Lindenberg‘s hamstring injury from last year is going to affect anything. He played this whole year without missing a snap.
Hindsight is 2020 but let’s say the NFL knew that Cashman was going to play like he is right now. What round do you think you would’ve been drafted in?Yes, but he played 12+ games four straight seasons. That does factor in.
Like I said I view Lindenberg as a similar level prospect and Cashman went in the 5th. Lindenberg missed more games due to injuries though. Hard to say with guys of this level but 5th-6th rd pick seems most likely but all it takes is one team to really like him and he could go higher.
Well he missed more time in the NFL than College so that would factor in. Hard to say as he was 27 before he really was a true starter. I think if you told people you had to sit on him 4 years before he becomes a good player he might still get drafted where he was. No NFL coach or front office is spending a high pick on a guy that doesn't really play the first 4 seasons, they might be fired by then.Hindsight is 2020 but let’s say the NFL knew that Cashman was going to play like he is right now. What round do you think you would’ve been drafted in?
Lindenberg is about three inches taller and played at about 15 pounds heavier than what Cashman played at. If scouts think he can handle OLB in a 3-4 and can generate pass rush from the outside, he'll shoot up draft boards.I compare him to Cashman due to a similars patterns over his playing years here, working up to about the same level of play in year 4. I think if he wants it, he will have it.
No LB who has played for the Gophers the past 30 years has had a nose for the ball quite like Cashman. Gibbens may be a close second. That said, and as mentioned above, Lindenberg has more measurables. We are blessed to have watched both of them play one from Eden Prairie one from Anoka pretty cool.Lindenberg is about three inches taller and played at about 15 pounds heavier than what Cashman played at. I love Cashman and he has an amazing knack of getting to the ball but I think Lindenberg has elite traits and is much more projectable.
Mau, Gerlach, and Kingsbury have at least got their feet wet. Hopefully that’s enough. Maybe Carrier breaks onto the scene, he was exciting coming out of high school and was able to red shirt. I thought adding one impact veteran could be big, but the coaches might be confident in these young guys. Elliot and Amaliri might be wild cards.I'll miss Cody. We definitely got the better player when Kaden Johnson went to Wisconsin in that class. Would say Cody, Yahya Black and Danny Striggow turned out to be the top three in state guys that year. Fortunately Maverick and Williams are much more equipped for snaps now then they were in 2023
It wouldn't shock me if they added another guy as insurance. You do that and your young guys still emerge then it's more likely you have a pretty good player. I do think Maverick is ready to emerge as the next leader in that roomMau, Gerlach, and Kingsbury have at least got their feet wet. Hopefully that’s enough. They're not exactly the same type of player for sure. So hard to project Lindeberg based on that comp though I think of recent LBs I have seen Cashman seems to be the closest comparison. I think Cashman is a little smaller and faster but Lindenberg might be able to be more the prototypical 3-4 OLB with his size. Cashman probably will be better in coverage and Lindenberg could potentially be a better NFL pass rusher able to take on OL better. He could really shoot up the boards if teams look at him and think he can be pass rusher on the NFL level.Lindenberg is about three inches taller and played at about 15 pounds heavier than what Cashman played at. If scouts think he can handle OLB in a 3-4 and can generate pass rush from the outside, he'll shoot up draft boards.

Mau is gone. He walked on senior day.Mau, Gerlach, and Kingsbury have at least got their feet wet. Hopefully that’s enough.
