Certainly possible, but he was obviously content being the OL coach at Penn St and I highly doubt he accepted the job under the condition of being OC in waiting.

I think it more likely that Kirk wanted to hire his own OL coach. But that could be wrong as well.

I think he absolutely has that much power- Kirk’s offensive scheme demands a great deal of zone blocking- not what Limegrover coached- at least not here.
