Gophers beat Indiana and Illinois. Michigan keeps winning. Duke loses at NC State... and a pretty realistic #1 vs. #2 match-up at The Barn next week.

Disclaimer: All jinxes have been sufficiently acknowledged rendering them moot.

I like the positive thinking! Go Gophs! Here's to hoping they grind out that first win on the road at Illinois...

Now that scenario would absolutely have The Barn, and especially the BarnYard, into such a frenzy that it would even make me wet my Depends.

If that were to happen, I would even have Security help me up onto the raised floor, wet Depends and all, and help me do wheelies in my ScooterRound. :)

I'd be there 4 hours early for that game if it were to happen. The students would pack it in for that one. Even if it was #3 vs #2 it would be awesome. A duke loss would make it a must watch game across the country.

NCState is capable of taking down the Dukies.

Dare to dream!

I think a lot of voters would still be hesitant to put Minnesota #2 or 3 on their ballots, mostly because it's Minnesota.

I would probably leave work in Iowa at noon for it, drive up and leave afterwards to be back for work at 8 the next day.

Now that I think about it. It's very unlikely that we'd be #2 with a Duke loss. We'd probably be 3, 4, or 5.

I would definitely leave classes early in Mankato to get to that game. It would be the most important game the Gophers have played in my life time that "actually happened"!

Don't want to be a debbie downer but let's focus on the Illinois.

Assembly Hall is a tough place to play and Groce has what looked like a bunch of spare parts performing like a well tuned machine.

That betting line is priced to move as well, no way we end up as favorites when it is all said and done. Home court in conference is a large equalizer, especially in places like Bloomington and Champaign.

Even with wins over the Illini and Indiana on the road, I hate to say it, but we would not move ahead of Duke, even if Duke lost. Duke still beat us, and pretty handily. And I think the media loves Louisville and there are other solid teams ranked ahead of us that are going to be tough to pass over. I honestly think that Illinois and Indiana would take bigger dips in the rankings because of losing to us, than we would move up. Now following up those wins with a win over Michigan would completely change the nation's perception of the Gophers, AND MINE!!! I do not, right now, see the Gophers as being better than Michigan or Indiana or Louisville or Duke or Syracuse or Kansas. I think those 6 teams are the cream of the crop. But, having said that, I do think that Minnesota is very possibly the 7th best team in the country, and I'm just hoping that we get a #2 seed in the tourney, and then play our best bb all year when we play our Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games in the Big Dance. Not one team that I've mentioned so far, with the possible exception of Michigan, I hate to say, is unbeatable. So I'm really hoping that Michigan ends up on the other side of the brackets from us in the Big Dance. No other team scares me. Many of them can beat us, but if we bring our A game, we can beat any of them.

But, thats getting WAY too far ahead of the game. As fans, we can get away with doing this, and even if we do set ourselves up for disappointment, we are just fans, and in all reality, win or lose, it doesn't change or affect our lives, or it shouldn't.

The best part about being a Gopher fan, is that if our BB team loses, we always have the Men's hockey team, and if they lose, we always have the Women's Hockey team. lol Oh, and the Wrestling team as well.
