Larry Fitzgerald Jr

I know Larry Sr personally and I've never known him to be anything more than a stand up man. I know Marcus and knew Larry Jr in HS and they were always stand up, good guys too. I never listened to the radio show when I was back home and I hear what people are saying in regards to him bringing up race all the time but all I know is that he's a good dude and whenever I ren into him when I'm back home he shows me love.

Anyone know why he didn't follow John S. to Wisconsin. From what I've seen here it sounds like the prep school would have got his grades in order. And I would think that Barry would have taken a chance on this kid. Anyone have any insight?
Thanks

He just hates Becky like most of us do in MN? :)

Actually, I have no idea.

Larry was commited to Pitt long before Stocco commited to Becky. Remember, Stocco was one of those kids who waited until the very end to decide is his future was going pro in Baseball or going somewhere to play on the gridiron.

I think the best way to sum it up is that there was a lot of fallout, not only with Larry, Sr., but the Spokesman Recorder and the African-American community in general over the Boston and Haskins firing. Boston and Haskins were very powerful and well-respected individuals, and the initial story - while in the end was pretty much true - was a strong acqusation against both of them. Also, I believe they were both fired well before the investigation was completed - at least Haskins was which only put more gas on the fire.

I think the other thing people forget is that our Texas-bred University president at the time said some things publically that led to people believing the finger was being pointed at Haskins and Boston only (see the "we will not have any power coaches at the University of Minnesota comment"). True or not, it was perception. In the end it led to a falling-out at the U that, from what I have been told, still carries on at times today.

Regardless, those that posted about the U not have a chance at Larry, Jr., it is true. However, in the end it has worked out well from him and he is a very well spoken individual that carries himself in a first-class manner. It is nice to see a local kid do well.

Larry at media day today talked about how he ended up at Pittsburgh. He said he was a "Big Ten Guy" because he's from Minnesota, but the Gophers were "Terrible" when he grew up. He played LB in addition to WR in High School, so he looked up to the PSU LB's like Levar Arrington and Brandon Short. He was going to visit PSU, but bad visibility on the roads forced them to stop in Pittsburgh, where his coach suggest they visit since they were stuck there anyways.
