Lane Kiffin a finalist for Broyles Award (nation's top assistant); Clayes cut

Clayes was nominated, but didn't make final five. Somehow, the former HC at Oakland Raiders, Vols and USC has spent less than one complete full season with the Roll Tide and has done such a good job to warrant his inclusion as one of five finalists.

Kiffin comes off as a jerk but he is a very, very good OC and an even better recruiter. He's also excellent working with QB's. Saben hiring him was a brilliant move. I don't like his demeanor at times but I would take him in an OC role over Limegrover in a heartbeat.

Having said all of that, I don't think I'd take any DC over Clayes. I think he's a great one and should have been a finalist.
