Everyone looks bad.
Let's hope AJ's mom's friend doesn't
Everyone looks bad.
+1I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I'm not sure who the blame falls on, but my take is still this was a motivational tactic by Kill gone wrong.
AJ Barker would have been better served calling a meeting with Norwood and Jerry and his parents to discuss this and see where that led.
Or
AJ should have treated this like an NFL player in a contract dispute and said "I'll discuss it after the season" played out the year and if no scholarship was awarded, leave.
There were just so many better options than this letter and even better ways to make it public. Not the best strategy from AJ.
It sounds to me like the "good friend" of A.J.'s mom is a dictatorial bitch who loves sticking her nose into people's places where such nose does not belong.
I don't care if she is hot or not, YOU can have her.
Calm down Doc. Just think of the opportunities here!
Hey Dean S, the woman referred to falls into the category of..."I wouldn't screw her with someone else's dick."
Does Barker's mom's friend look anything like the MILFs in the pop-up ads on the right side of the screen? The ones that apparently say "We don't like young men!"?
just askin', as it could change my vote.
That ad I don't mind so much.

Whatever - we don't need this! He was our best receiver and certainly should have had a scholarship by this time. Major p.r. problem for a staff that needs a big upgrade in recruiting.
Rest assured RJ Superfan there is no internet straying on this computer, too many young ladies in my house for any of that nonsense. However that ad is similar to my wife's Victoria Secret catalog, just shows up on it's own, I can't unsee it.
I think there is plenty of blame to go around for both side. AJ will regret his actions and most likely ended his football career. On the other side, Kill needs to move out of the dark ages. I don't care who you are, you have no right to belittle and ridicule people. Respect goes both ways and there is no need to personally attack people with fear and intimidation in order to get your point across.
Twenty one year olds do and say stupid things. Coaches get paid a lot of money to recognize and handle these kinds of situations. Barker, by any objective assessment, earned a scholarship, was frustrated about the situation and lashed out in a way that he probably already regrets. (If ever there was a prime example of why you sit on an important email overnight, this is it.) If half of what Barker said in the email is true, Kill has treated the kid poorly, embarrassed him and manipulated the hell out of him. It appears that he did it basically because he could.
Barker appears to be an angry, immature young man in a situation where the only power he had was to publicly embarrass Kill and the program. In the course of doing so, he also embarrassed himself. Kill was the adult in this situation and it appears that he handled it very poorly. This one's mostly on Kill.
lol Typical 'progressive' response. It's a tactic that has worked for millennia. Not only for Football, but for military and other motivation uses. No, he doesn't have the right to belittle people.. but then again, this is football. Not the effing ballet.
LOL... Typical blah, blah response. They have always done it that way so it must be right.
Not all coaches do it. I doubt that Gagliardi or Dungy ever got into a players face and told him he was a worthless piece of sh!t. I did not say to back off of expectations or discipline, just do it with respect.
I take Mike Leach's side. If AJ Barker's dad had worked for ESPN Jerry Kill wouldn't be the coach right now.
