Kill and Patterson reluctant to schedule this series

"This year and next, the Minnesota game serves as the “tough” non-conference game for TCU. It will be Arkansas in the next two-year cycle, then Ohio State, then Cal.

Just as the coaches are close, the programs at TCU and Minnesota are close. In the past, Minnesota has sent its defensive coaching staff to watch TCU spring practices.

Patterson said he and Kill are good enough friends that they and their wives could vacation together if they had a chance, that he’d be glad to be an assistant for Kill, and that they’ll still talk long after football.

“Friends don’t like to play friends any time,” Patterson said. “Obviously, it’s always tough. But both of us got jobs to do, both of us got mouths to feed, and so for one week, you got to get after each other and get ready to play.”

TCU travels to Minnesota next year, playing on Thursday, Sept. 3. It is scheduled to be the season opener for both teams."
