I am proud of you gopher faithful on this board. PA (and his sidekick, whoever that is) were trying their hardest to piss off gopher fans this monring. I'm presuming that since there were no posts about it on this board that gopher fans have finally givin KAVRE the boot. Thank you thats just one step closer to removing some of their on air (talent ).

Once we get the Vikings out of town, KFAN will be next.

so you think they are going to talk about the gophers when they haven't had a offensive touchdown in over 2 straight games over the Vikings when they looked amazing on sunday? You clearly know nothing about sports.

Brew-recruit

classic post! Responding to a post you didn't even read or at least comprehend. I did listen and they were talking Gophers just not in any positive sort of way, which I don't blame them. Thank you for your well thought out and insightful post.

And you may not know a lot about KFAN. They love talking about the Gophers but ONLY when they play very badly. Not to worry Barriero will figure out a way to get them in there. He may have to wait until tomorrow though. Last Tuesday I tuned in at 3:05 figuring he had lacerated them on Monday. Nope he started the hour on them. I tuned-out and checked-in on my way home at 5:30. He was STILL talking about it!:clap:

Oh yeah, count on it. He'll get to them but you don't need to listen!:horse:

Agreed Iceland. Much like the Souhan and Reusse, KFAN only enjoys covering the Gophers when they are down.

I edited this message cause I don't want to turn this into a KFAVRE bashing fest again.

To be fair, how often are they up?

Look at the evolution of the season(s). For example, in 2008 we sat at 7-1, and KFAN could hardly care. This year we were 3-1 after Northwestern, and things looked pretty positive. We got past 'Cuse on the road, beat a good AF team, played Cal tough, and took it to the Mildcats on the road. All that with Wisconsin coming in for a trophy game. Seems like a pretty good time to build up a little hype in the media. Did they? NOPE.

Its not just being up at the end of the year, its being up for certain parts of the season, when some media hype is deserved.

The football team-almost never. Basketball team has a chance to be real good this year, yet I'll wager my left nut that the Timberwolves get more coverage on a week to week basis than the Gophers do.

Also, I occasionaly listen to Barrerio when walking my dog after work. Last week he spent over half an hour talking about Oprah's "retirement". Your sports leader indeed.

Oh, but that's supposed to be the 'charm' of KFAN - that its not all sports-sports-sports. Common can get away with that in his time slot, but the other radio personalities- not so much.

Some of you guys are way to narrow minded. If the Vikings were not scoring touchdowns and were heading towards a 5-11 season, and the gophers were playing amazing football and headed to the rose bowl, it would be the Gophers being talked about. But you have to realize that the vikings are 9-1 and the gophers are 5-6-1(1 being a win over sdsu). Why would they get air time, unless it was negative, and then you would probably be mad again.

After the Syracuse win I checked-in to only to hear DB talk about "the worst win ever!" a line that he massaged after the SDSU to "the most embarassing win ever". Though he may have used that for Syracuse also. I tune out rather quickly once they start ripping away.

After the MSU win I did listen for awhile. It never came up!::banghead::banghead:

He's a consistent doucebag you've got to give him that! :drink:

2003, Gophers and Vikings both at 6-0, Vikings dominated the airwaves. Gophers finished their best season in eons with 10 wins, Vikings missed the playoffs. Vikings dominate the airwaves. They're never ever going to talk more about the Gophers no matter how good they are, they make their money off the Vikings and will always cater to them.

Did you actually read any of the last few posts? Covering a team means covering it all season - and at some points that means that the Gophers were doing well and deserved some hype.

Right now - no, they don't deserve much coverage at all, and some negative is warranted. But after a 3-1 start with a tough schedule? Or check PlayHosea's latest example. Read and comprehend please.

This is a KSTP reference but it "kind of applies.

I remember Ruesse RIPPING Gopher fans and Mason for bragging about the first "10 Win season" because for most of their history they only played nine games and for 10 and 11 game years they could have only lost once rather then three times.

All true by the way, but it maybe the best insight into the Fulda Flash and his disdain for the "post Stoll" year Gophers.

How dare we Gopher fans enjoy 10 wins and a Sun Bowl victory over a quality PAC-10 opponent (Oregon). Shame on us. Thanks for setting us straight all those years ago Reusse.

I just have a question for you.

Do you honestly think the "KFAVRE" bit is funny/clever/original?

Because, just as a common courtesy - it is none of those things.

Whether it is or isn't, what difference does that make? The originator of this thread didn't claim it to be any of those things. He was just using that reference for effect. So what?

Quite true, much like many of their bits. Give them a call, they refer to themselves as "KFAVRE" on a regular basis.

I'm certain this won't diminish your point any, but Barreiro wasn't on the air last Monday - so Tuesday was his first chance to talk about the SDSU game. Carry on.

Thanks Clyde. Yeah, he made reference to that right before he started into them. The kicker is I purposely avoided the Monday show to miss the venom.

Excellent question, asked in a moronic way, but a good question.
They refer to themselves as KFAVRE, PA says it continually throughout his show.
But since you didn't know that it brings me back to me first post, thank you for not knowing that!

KFAN's morning show, specifically Mike Morris, give the Goph's a fair shake. They have the Fargo Flash on quite often. This is the only time I listen to KFAN.

The Gophers can win with the Vikings in town. The Vikings are not the only thing standing in the way. Just like Target can co-exist with Walmart in town. But nobody, nobody, can deny that if the Vikings leave it helps the Gophers. Just like if Walmart left, Target's sales go up locally. Come on people. Don't give the media-following lemmings in this town too much credit.
