he just tweeted this:

Ppl please excuse my language but f#ck these morning runs. They hurt & I'm tired of these sh*ts.On that note I'm going to sleep.Good Night

someone should tell him that he'd get a lot more tired of losing...oh, and that he has a free ride.

I'm sure that Coach Kill won't be a huge fan of Keanon Cooper's tweet if and when he hears of it, in fact his remedy for that kind of complaining might entail even MORE running for Cooper, and it probably should. ;)

Note to Mr. Cooper....ummm, maybe not so bright to tweet something like that publicly. If your coach is a ballbuster to begin with, not the best idea on earth to court his possible wrath like that.

Who in their right mind would enjoy those? Can't say I blame the guy. Like Kill stated before, he knows the kids arent going to like everything they do but they just have to buy into it. Just because he doesn't like them, doesn't mean he doesn't understand why they have to go through them.

Having had classes with Cooper I can vouch that he works hard, attends classes, and does well in the classes. I have been consistently underwhelmed by Gopher football players in seeing them in the classroom, but Cooper has a fantastic attitude and actually works hard. Let him whine about early practices, I would do the same thing.

Considering earlier in the day he had 3 consecutive tweets about how much he is improving and his excitement for the next 2 years I can't imagine coach Kill will be that angry

Yea, I can't imagine. My buddy in the ROTC program is still up earlier than they are, daily, doing more work and listening to his stuff makes me sweat thinking about it.

You do burn more calories in the morning though, studies say.

Nothing wrong with complaining about morning runs on Twitter, as long as he gets there and participates. I can think of maybe 2-3 people I've ever played with who enjoyed the conditioning aspect of sports. What's strange is these were the people who were not very skilled at the actual sport. As Charles Barkley said, whoever finished first in their mile conditioning run in the NBA always got cut.

I

Why is everyone so sure he's talking about football? From where I'm sitting, it looks like he's complaining about something else entirely...

Good point, I hate the runs at any time of the day.

Cooper

Playing the games are easy. Workouts are not. Cooper knows this and will be all the better athlete for getting through this. He will thank Kill when we start winning.

Very simple.

He is not a morning person. How many of you guys need several cups of java before you even speak?

Coop is now getting stalked by PantherHawk as well...a recent tweet:

"I like how this Panther Hawk dude stalk my tweets then respond on Facebook.just respond to them on here.you're a grown man so act like it"

Go Gophers!!

It's similar to how he feels about pantherhawk per his most recent tweet:

I like how this Panther Hawk dude stalk my tweets then respond on Facebook.just respond to them on here.you're a grown man so act like it

He dislikes the morning runs, just like he dislikes patherhawk, but both are a part of the college football experience... At least until patherhawk takes a fake lightsaber to the eye.

Edit: damn bleed you beat me to it.

I get up 5 days a week at 5:30 to go to the gym and participate in a variety of workout classes there. A lot of times I complain about it too, and then you get to laugh along with the others who are sweating and complaining. Much ado about nothing.

But then again, like a previous posted stated, it might just be a case of runny-buns, or mud-butt.

Everyone should complain and hate the morning workouts. Feeling the need to TWEET it is something I guess I will never understand.

I LOL'd so hard at this hahahahaha

It isn't that hard until you vomit or pass out. On the second day of basic training we ran up "misery" and down "agony" and back again, about 5 miles. Anybody who fell out was going to be discharged. We who still stood running dragged our platoon mates along. Nobody gets left behind... Nobody quits. Nobody complained out loud. We did that run every day for 7 weeks. By the time I reached my first assignment at Fort Huachuca, we ran up the post road up Huachuca mountain for fun every other Saturday morning, about a 2400 foot rise, the equivalent of an 8 mile run each way.

Tell Coop if he is totally committed, he could run that peak with a few of the best if he would join ROTC. He would definitely learn what leadership was all about.

By the way, the Mustang Mountains are nearby the Huachuca mountains, where I would on occasion conduct training. Rugged terrain. Lots of Rat'lers. Lot's of scorpions, tarantulas and cacti as well.

Ok, knowing quite a few people that have been in the Armed Forces and having my best friend from high school in the Rangers, I find it very hard to believe that nobody ever complained about morning runs. Did they complain to the DIs, most likely not but that doesn't mean they didn't go "probably should go get some sleep, I got that stupid run in the morning," which is really all Cooper is doing here. He isn't asking to get out of the runs, he just saying that he doesn't like them. Thats just like me saying I hate studying for tests but that doesn't mean I'm not going to keep doing it.

This. Complaining isn't automatically a sign of a problem. If it stretches into how hard a player is working then it is. But I'm betting everyone here can think about something they're forced to do as part of their job that they hate. And I bet most of us complain about it. But if we still complete the task to the best of our ability the complaining is meaningless and is simply a healthy way to avoid becoming too frustrated.

I think expecting these guys to go through this kind of "culture shock" that we are to believe is going in the transition from Brewster to Kill with a constant happy attitude is kind of missing the point. We want Kill to push these guys to their limits and the reason why only a good coach is able to do that is because pushing yourself to the limit sucks. It's hard work. It's painful. Should he tweet about it? Probably not. But that's not the world that we live in. I'll tell you this, i'd be more concerned if Cooper said something like "The morning jog was a breeze, I must be in great shape".

Tough world when you get used to things being easy and now you have to work. A yr. from now it will still be hard, but it will just be the routine. They will still hate it, but will know thats what it's all about.

Yep. And eventually you start to develop a perverse sense of enjoyment/pride out of the whole thing. I hated our AM off season workouts for basketball in college. But there was a part of me that was really impressed with how far I'd come since we started the workouts and that I could keep overcoming the next crappy hill run.

5am early morning funs means no more drinking the night before. It is not going to happen. Keeps kids out of trouble.

The hockey guys could learn a thing or two. They're out just about every night, but I'm pretty sure that's more normal in their sport.

A recent Keanon Cooper tweet from today.

"Sending out my deepest apologies to Coach Kill, my team, and the whole organization for recent comments I've made.Proud to be a Gopher!!!"

Really wasn't a big deal at all IMO, but I guess cool that he apologized about it, that's a good look right there.

WAY TO GO, KEANON!

Way to go, Keanon! We know you are on board with the new coaches and program.

GO GOPHERS!

Just like comments in most places where they can't be edited once sent, it would really pay for communicators to wait 5 minutes before sending. Many times the comments would get deleted instead of sent.
