I'm guessing he was leading after their game since they played Friday night. But after Saturday's games, he's now 10th in the country.

In what... total yards passing? Passing yards per game? Have you a link?

The reason I ask, according to B1G stats he has 287.5 yards per game. That's pretty good, but I'd be shocked if it was 10th in the entire country. Athan has played four games; many QBs have played only 3. Drake Lindsey started 3 games, and played, what... one half of the Northwestern State game, if that?

Lindsey went 8 for 9 for 139 yards and 1 TD vs. Northwestern State. There was really no need for him to play much in that game. He certainly would have padded his stats had he continued.

Unfortunately Cal provided a lot of tape on how to shred our defense with an aggressive pass-first game plan. I'm sure this has been a focus of the bye week but it looks like we're probably going to be tested again.

As others have noted I'm glad that Kaliakmanis has found a better fit and is so far doing well. I'm sure he still has some Minnesota chip on his shoulder to work off on Saturday. Need the D to step up plus Drake and the O to get the W.

Otherwise it looks like it will be a glorious Saturday morning into early afternoon...clear skies in the mid-70s. Great weather for a maroon-out.

I believe that after Fridays game he lead the nation in passing yards. Total yards not per game.

Not really fair to pin it all on Koi but he absolutely made some critical mistakes that really hurt the team.

I have no doubt he feels horrible about those mistakes....hopefully he learns from them and will be a better player for it.

Yes as long as we can hide the void or get there so early he doesn't have time to process/ make reads.
 

Gotta get the hands and arms up this week against AK. If memory serves me AK had a few balls batted down by the Iowa DL. Gophers need to do the same deflect the ball.
 

AK is still a fraud when it comes down to nut cutting’ time, but if PJ and his DC are stubborn and try that three man rush nonsense with any sort of regularity again we will again get our ass kicked.

I will say this I wasn’t a big Jah Joyner guy, but he seemed a relish being on the field for the three men rush look and actually almost always provided at least a little pressure. We had none of that last game.

This is the part everyone forgets about when they talk about blitzing and bringing added pressure. It is great and can be really disruptive, as long as you get home....if you don't....you just exposed your D to getting lit up.

Depends on personnel too.

I remember TCU had a defense where their secondary had a "don't go until you know" process where the guys in the secondary were actually each reading the offense and would adjust ... once the play started.

It was very interesting ... right up until after the first group started to rotate out and then the new guys couldn't all make the reads and they got burned bad and had to stop doing that.

A blitzer or even a RB who can predict the right gap can make all the difference. But if he can't it just doesn't matter if it was the right call by the coach.

I didn't miss it; I just think it's misleading because Kaliakmanis has played more games than many QBs. Yards per game tells the story a little better than total yards. And even that can be misleading; for example, technically Lindsey played in the Northwestern State game, but he played less than two quarters.

When comparing player stats, I think it is best to try to get all the information.
