Kadyn Betts in the portal

Time for greener pastures for Mr. Betts, who could not crack the lineup in three years. CU Pueblo might be a good fit, his hometown.

I wonder if Kadyn is graduating early? I seem to recall he was a straight A student in high school so it would seem he may have accelerated his classes to graduate in three years.

Best of luck to him wherever he winds up.

If he is a straight A student hopefully he did some research. He had a scholarship at Minnesota.

He has potential but not much game experience and demonstrated a poor understanding of the game too often when he did play.
Hopefully, it works out for him or he's already negotiated a home somewhere else.

Like Frank, the new HC will have to be able to bring in better talent. Its out there.

Ben did the best he could and I commend his efforts but the newbie HC will have much higher expectations than Betts, Frank, Okudale. Edmonds, etc.

The newbie will be starting over much like Ben. But the bar needs to be raised.

Be interesting to see if he makes out financially as well as he would have at MN. Not just scholarship here but would have been paid too.

Maybe not getting paid is part of the reason he’s departing. The lure of money may draw many, but the taking of it away is an easy way to run a guy off.
Possibly, but who would be making that decision for the program right now?

Probably he is tired of sitting on a bench and sees that if he couldn't break the lineup this year he won't do it with a new coach. A lower mid-major would probably be a nice landing spot. Maybe Northern Colorado.

I'm a little bummed about this one. In an era of instant gratification, Kadyn seemed both patient and realistic. After the mass departures last year, I think he was quoted saying he loves MN and the Gopher program.

He had a CSU offer out of high school, and I hoped Niko and the staff could unlock something in him.

Hope he finds a landing spot that'll give him some run. I'll be checking in on him periodically.
