The odds are slim for Fruechte to make the 53-man roster, but he said he’s “comfortable” in his first NFL training camp.
“Jarius (Wright) came up to me and was like ‘just relax and play,’ and I think he was right,” Fruechte said. “I was just trying to think too much and over-think things. I felt really good after that, and I feel really good now.”
Fruechte also noted that veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace, who the team acquired this past offseason to fulfill the no.1 receiver duties, has been a “tremendous” help as well. “He’s been great ever since OTA’s, mini-camp all that stuff,” Fruechte said. “The side I’ve ever seen on Mike, he’s a great player, great leader, great person. I love working with him, and he always has great advice for me.”
