Justin Walley officially announces he'll enter NFL Draft

Back atcha, Mr Walley. Thanks for all you've done for us Gopher fans. You're an all-time Gopher great. And a young man we can all admire and respect, as well.

Much appreciated!

I thought he was already a senior and obligated to go, but I think it's the right choice for him.

Vikings could use some secondary help...
Little confused by this one as well because the roster on Gopher Sports shows this as being his final year. Think I remember another player doing this as well though so maybe just a social media thing.

Edit - and I agree he would look great in purple next year.

Every player who wants to enter the NFL must declare for the NFL Draft, so I suppose he's announcing that. He played 4 full seasons after 2020 so he's not NCAA eligible for 2025.

Unless this is supposed to imply that he's not playing in the Mayo Bowl. I hope he is.

COVID year. Guys that were freshman in 2020 are the last class that could choose to play for another season.

Edit: this was wrong ^^^^^^ Walley started 2021.

I could see him being one that would choose to opt out of the bowl game. He has been playing through injuries all year so might want to use the time to fully heal up/train for all the pre-draft workouts and what not.

I think he has a shot to make a good career in the NFL. Not sure he's destined to e a pro bowl level guy but never know, but I think he will stick around a while.

For gone conclusion he will disappoint his teammates and fans b skipping the bowl. I guess if I was in his shoes I would do the same.

I don't think skipping the Mayo Bowl really disappoints anyone. If they were in the college football playoffs, yeah, but this bowl game is pretty low level.

Was he a Week 1 starter as a freshman? I know he played in all 13 games his freshman year and racked up solid statistics, but I can't remember if he was a starter from the get-go.

Whatever, he was a really good player for the Gophers and he never backed down. At 185 pounds, he never hesitated to throw himself in the mosh pit of the opponent's running game. Just a really solid guy who showed out well for us.

He'd look great in Purple. Not sure they would take him with one of their 5th round picks.
