Just back from Lincoln - A few thoughts

I'm sure it was a bit crazier than normal considering it was Texas, however, for the most part, game-day in Lincoln is always a great experience no matter who the opponent is. And I think you said it well in a prior post that Lincoln is less booze but more country...or something to that degree.

Overall, disappointing game...really made me sick to my stomach watching the drop balls, penalties, fumbles, etc. But on the flip side, glad to hear you enjoyed your experience.

Been going to a couple of Huskers games a year since I moved here in 1981. That was the most crowded I have ever seen the tailgates. It was a huge game and the atmosphere reflected it. The tailgates never slowed down this Saturday, even after the game started they were still packed as everyone without tickets just watched it on TV at their tailgates. Traffic was the worst I have seen it in a long time, much worse that the USC game 2 years ago. It was a fun day except for the Husker faithful. Given the apathy for Gopher football at this point, I am worried how many Husker fans end up with tickets to next year's game.

Hopefully we get a big name new coach and that changes. The OL will be young and we'll have a new QB but the cupboard isn't bare. If we get a good coach it shouldn't be long for him to win.

Somebody wore Gopher gear in Lincoln for a Texas vs. Nebraska game? Awesome!

Why didn't you talk to them?

There were a couple people that I saw, I was running late for meeting up with some other people and didn't see them until I was walking out the door.

The one thing that really stuck out to me was how great we have it in our stadium. Sure, they pack nearly 90,000 in the Husker stadium, but man you can hardly move in there. The bleacher seats are so close together I could hardly even get out to go to the bathroom. People who were rather large were in my row and climbing over them was not fun for either of us. Makes you appreciate our new stadium.

Also, bathroom lines were ridiculous there. I ended up just holding it the whole game or I would have missed an entire quarter of football

Ha...how did so many Gopher fans end up with tickets to THE game for Nebraska this season? Apparently I need to befriend some of you guys, so I can get hooked up with tickets.

Both of my brother's went to college there, so I grew up a husker fan... I usually just go with them to husker games

Even without apathy they'd still get into the stadium, they always do.

If we ever thought the Iowa and Wisconsin biennial pilgrimages to Minneapolis were bad, Nebraska is going to be worse.

At least they're better behaved!

I honestly don't know who will bring more fans to the Bank next year: wisky, Iowa, NDSU, or Nebraska.

Totally agree. There are a ton of fat bastards in Nebraska.

Traveled to Lincoln as well this past weekend. The pride they have for their team is unbelievable. Very nice folks, one guy even bought me a program when he heard I was from MN! Overall a great game day experience. But then again, they do have the most successful college football program of the past 50 years.
