Pretty sure it was LaMonte Edwards LB/RB from Woodbury. He didn't have one before and now rivals has us offering. 6-2 215 4.5 speed. Sounds like good LB numbers.

Sid lists the invitees this morning. I remember Gjere and Seantrel among others.

Here is the list, according to Sid.

Saturday was junior day at the Gophers football complex, and among those attending were Cretin-Derham Hall's Seantrel Henderson; Irondale's Jimmy Gjere; Totino-Grace's Muhammad Kromah, Gabe Mezzenga and John Crockett; Minnetonka's Beau Allen; Wayzata's Tobi Okuyemi and Grant Olson; Eden Prairie's Taylor Grant; DeLaSalle's Evan Williams; Eastview's Rex Sanders; and Woodbury's Lamonte Edwards. This group is considered one of the best junior crops in years. Also in attendance were some high school seniors who have committed for this fall, including Eastview defensive lineman Matt Garin and Mahtomedi center Ed Olson. ... Gophers coach Tim Brewster has what he calls a preferred walk-on class, and Cretin-Derham Hall center Zach Mottla has accepted that type of offer, according to GopherIllustrated.com. One recruiting service had ranked Mottla as the eighth-best center in the country.

I heard there were six MN juniors with offers. After watching Gjere's senior film, he is regarded by Minnesota coaches as every bit the prospect as Seantrel. I know they also are intrigued by the big Totino kid, Kromah.

So I've been reading about other schools "junior day's" and they have kids from in-state and out-state. What's up with us only bringing in in-state kid's for this? Are we going to have another one with other's later?

Another "junior day"

I'm sure Brew learned from Mack Brown the best way to handle it - and will follow suit. He was with Mack for a long time at UNC and then Texas.

My guess would be that he was trying to get together the junior in-staters and a couple of senior in-state recruits and try to generate some camaraderie and state spirit-loyalty. Similar to what he did with a couple of Texas recruits last fall putting a commit next to a recruit on the flight up.

There usually are several junior days and last year the big one was when they all attended a basketball game and there we're 30 some kids. All we're from Minnesota or Wisconsin except this one kid nobody had ever heard of from Arizona:mad: They also have about 10-12 of the top underclassmaen come in when Tom Lemming visits. The top two soph's we're also there last week in Tommy Olsen and Andre Hunt from Eastview.
