I have a friend looking for an audio link of Jules at Memorial Stadium. Can anyone help?

I was unaware of him working Memorial Stadium myself.

Thanks in advance.

Youtube has the 1981 Michigan game, abc broadcast- in part. Might be able to catch some there.

Final score from Iowa City. Iowa 28, (pause) Michigan State 31!

Favorite memory: "There's a squirrel on the field...he's to the 30, the 25, the 15, out of bounds at the threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

Thought it was funny that they showed that squirrel last week.

it would be a treasure if that could be found. Check with the Minnesota historical society. Call Mark Allen at the Alumni association maybe.

Every year their was High School Band day at Memorial Stadium. One year they started playing while Jules was reading an announcement.
"Will the Bands in the west end zone PLEASE SHUT UP!!!"

Were Jules and Bob Casey related?:)

"Please do not throw anything or anyone on the Metrodome field."

Yep, remember that. Also, can't remember the basketball game but after a big Gopher victory, the students ran up on the court and Jules damn near had a stroke yelling at them to get off the floor. "Stay off the court! Stay off the court! Get off the court!" Probably early 70's and I'm not referring to the OSU riot game. He was trying to clear the court then also, but it wash't funny that night.

That would have been great if Tucker had only played in the 3-point era of CBB.

Bingo Gophers7! I was wondering how long it would take before someone would notice this (hence my winking emoji). I was at those games in the late 70's and early 80's and yep, no 3-point line. You get the "atta boy" of the day award!

Got it as soon as I read the post. I remember those early 80's Dutch teams fondly.

Any idea when that was? I seem to remember seeing it, but I could have just heard about it before.

Remember going to Mich/Gophs game at the brickhouse (80 or 81?) and hearing Jules growl "Haji-Sheikh" over and over. Between kick-offs, extra points and FGs, Mich kicker was on the field a lot.

I tried without luck to find an Audio Link of Jules PA Announcing. If there isn’t one there definitely should be. I did find other interesting links about Jules though. Evidently you can hear Jules announcing a part of a Gopher Football game in the McNamara Alumni Center on the site of old Memorial Stadium.

Quote from the website below:

When visitors walk through the Memorial Arch, they’ll hear historical audio of Gopher announcer Julius Perlt, the University Marching Band, and fans singing the “Minnesota Rouser.”

Here is a good photo of Jules at Memorial Stadium 1955:

Here is Jules' bio in “M” Club Hall of Fame: Not sure I knew he was a Big Ten Champ in Gymnastics in the 20’s and also he is in the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame.

Here is an essay from the Alumni Association and it might indicate where Bob Casey might have picked up his celebrated warning about smoking in the Metrodome. - - - “No Smoking” in the Metrodome".

Quote from the Essay:

Fans of a certain age remember Perlt’s backward announcement of an upset: “Here is a score from South Bend, Notre Dame 7 . . . Purdue 21!” This was always greeted by hysterical applause, but the line that got the biggest howl, in the corners of the big horseshoe where students nipped at flasks, was his pregame warning about the “wrongful use and consumption of intoxicating beverages.”

I still would like to hear an audio clip of Jules though.

Thanks

Looks like you put some effort into it.

Appreciated.

Pretty sure it was a game featuring Rick Upchurch.

My memory is Indiana kicker "STOYANAVICH kicking"
