Jon Gruden

YES, YES! YES!!

Let's keep the Jon Gruden train rolling!

If he was coach I would go to every home game and even some road games, just for the entertainment aspect.

Granted he would have to simplify his system to fit College kids, but that is an easy fix.

Won't happen. Tony Dungy wouldn't approve of the language he would use in front of the young men.

I love it!!! You've got to keep it going, bud. Gruden would be a Tubby hire on speed!!! YEEEEEEEEEEHAAA!

YES! I got one on my side, Who's next??

After the draft he went on Letterman and Dave asked him if he wanted to coach again and he said that he definitely wants to coach again.

Why not College?
Why not the Gophers?

I would fully support this hire.

Unfortunately, I still think he is out of our reach.

I don't see him taking anything but an NFL job but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask. If he says no at least you tried, if he says yes Saturday afternoons would be a heck of a lot more exciting.

YES YES YES Two more in the Gruden corner!

That makes 4, 1/5th of Gopher Nation or something like that ;)

I'm in.....I think Chucky actually would smack BB in the jaw if he went for 2.

Do you think right about now Brew wishes he would have?

Welcome aboard Triple D to the Gruden Express! Destination Pasadena, California CHOO CHOO!!

Now living in Tennessee, I would never say never about Gruden coming to MN but the University of TN went hard at him last year and he declined. My guess is if a guy turns down UT he is going to turn down the U of M. A lot of names that keep getting brought up were pursued by UT last fall. Such as Gruden, Muschamp from Texas, Calhoun from Air Force, Al Golden from Temple. Allegedly they all turned down offers from a university that is top 5 in revenue in the country with plenty of tradition. Part of this could have been the timing. (late January). My guess though is if you turn down UT you will not be interested in MN. I hope I am wrong

Timing was the main issue for what happened to Tennessee. Most of those guys had already announced they were coming back or were working on an extension to stay. I honestly feel for the UTk football program. They are between a rock and a hard place and dont have a coach who can weather them through the storm. Dooley seems to be a lame duck coach who's only job will be to try to stock the team with talent for the next [high profile] coach to work with.

Kind of like what happened to Zook.

For us, we are the only school with an official job opening. The timing wont be a problem because we will have had months to contact guys and see how interested they are. My only concern is when other schools start making their coaching moves and have the same wishlist we have.

With the big news this morning.. I'm just excited to hear what's going to happen with my favorite college team.

SKI U MAH!!

A few more Grudenites in the fold possibly. The Chuckie brotherhood keeps growing and picking up steam.

Has Joel put the call in yet?

Why don't you e-mail him and tell him to give Gruden a call? You are clearly on a mission here.

While you're at it, you should find Gruden's e-mail and give him a nudge from that end.

I think you may have some validity to your opinion but I also think minnesota has a shot for more personal reasons.

obviously UT has a more recent tradition of winning and its in the best football conference by many people. UT also has a better fan base and a better football admin.

but I see gruden as a city kind of guy and knoxville really isn't that! would any of you rather live in knoxville or the twin cities?i have been to knoxville, not impressed! if gruden were to make tennessee a contender he would be known as a very good coach, if gruden made minnesota a contender he would be considered one of the greatest coaches ever, period! the big ten is slowly becoming a good conf from top to bottom and I think the U has a lotto offer.

LOL. That was honestly my first thought. Win or lose, when the opposing coach came to mid-field for the post-game handshake, they would do so with trepidation.

My guess is Gruden will be back in the NFL soon.

wont happen. he's a pro coach who is impatient with nfl rookies. he's got two years college experience, not counting graduate assistant.

I can't wait for the "flip right double x jet 36 counter naked waglet seven x quarter heads up for a 358 cannon check on one" play call

and we could get someone that not really being considered here, much like Tubby, who's name never came up when Monson departed, at least until he was hired. Heck, maybe Urban M doesn't want to die from the stress of his current 'situation' and would rather like a less high pressure 'situation'. just sayin'

So while watching MNF last night this thought actually ocurred to me. Does anyone know Michelle Tafoya or know her e-mail address? She is on the MNF broadcast team with Gruden, let's get Tafoya to be our proxy and suggest that she ask him if he is interested since they know each other. Tafoya lives here and also broadcasts college football, she'd probably like to see him make the U a successful program. If he says no we keep e-mailing her until she wears him down.

My inside source(my 4 year old daughter) tells me that Gruden will be the hire.

Case closed.

Gruden is out, he is too much of a potty mouth for the liking of Mr. Dungy.

OK so here goes a last ditch effort to get my guy, but no matter who the Gophers end up with I will be behind 100%

Let's Get CHUCKIE!

Gruden

Gruden would be awesome but it would be shocking if he came and more shocking if he stayed.
Sounds like a front runner for the Cowboys job.

2 Things

1) He is not coming

2) If he came, he would not bolt. Why would he come to Minnesota only to bolt? It doesn't make sense. He could get a job much better than MN if he waited for one, so why would he come to MN only to bolt shortly after. That just wouldn't make sense.
If he came, it would be for the long haul.
