Join me in naively looking ahead to the Michigan @ Minnesota match-up...

If Michigan doesn't turn it over, they'll be fine.

We're just too banged up and not executing well enough to give them much of a game right now.

NCAA passing yards allowed
6. Michigan
127. Nebraska (dead last)

Michigan is second in the nation in rush defense. Why not say something about not laughing at our OL then? It's just funny how some continue to single out Leidner all the time when this team has a lot of issues besides the QB.

I think the Gopher Captains should just bring the Little Brown Jug out for the coin toss and hand it over to the Michigan Captains. Why? Leidner can't throw or run, the O Line can't open holes or pass block, the D Line gets no backfield penetration, the DBs don't turn to look for the ball when covering a receiver and we don't know who is going to end up injured during the game. Anyone feeling optimistic after this? Not me.

It is the GH way.

Cut ML7 a break. He played well yesterday. It won't be his last good game. Yeah, there will be some clunkers too. Enjoy them when you can.

If he had a 65% or higher pass completion rating, and if his overthrows, by 15+ yards, and throwing to empty spots on the field had lessened since game 1, I might consider cutting him some slack. Neither has happened yet. Michigan can play a pure true zone DB coverage scheme and not worry about completions at all. In fact, they may pick up 3 or 4 INT by just having DB stay in their coverage zone waiting for the empty spot throw.

Kiss the Jug goodbye. They will run over our D line like a Mack truck.

Well going into the Bye, we lost to Illinois last year. Kill had two weeks and even though the Hawks had steamrolled Northwestern by 40+ the week before. Gophs came out and handed Iowa a 51-14 ass kicking. The defense will be banged up on the line, but it's not like Expe and Cockerin will playing well anyways, getting Pook back and BBC healthier should help. We haven't had Travis all year, so if he ever comes back that would just be a bonus. I think the boys will really come to play for this one. Nebraska was desperate Saturday, will be just as desperate on Halloween

I think this is pretty consistent across most fan bases. Joel Stave, save the Iowa game, has actually had a pretty great season for Wisconsin and despite going 30-39 for over 300 yards still got ripped to shreds on badger message boards after the Purdue game. Just the nature of the position they play.

I think you know this GophersInIowa, but sadly, most fans watch the quarterback on every play; it's one of the few things they can actually claim to understand. If our fanbase (and other fanbases for that matter) was required to get a certification in line blocking theory, route running basics, defensive schemes and other nuances of actual Big Boy football, we'd see very little discussion about Leidner on this site. Some, sure... but not to this level.

That Leidner is even on the Top 10 What Went Wrong list for Nebraska is a head scratcher.

Are you talking about overall in a season? Then you'll never be satisfied no matter who our QB is. This isn't the NFL, only 20 QB's in the country finished at 65% or higher last year, and many of them played in spread offenses. Only two Big Ten QBs have finished above that mark in the past three seasons. Nathan Scheelhaase in 2013 and Robert Marve in 2012. No one did it last year. Of the Big Ten QB's who have thrown at least 100 passes this year, he is 7th out of 14 in completion percentage.

I get the criticism. He hasn't been good at times. But some people dislike him so much it's impossible for them to ever be happy. It is okay to say he has played well at times and still not think he is a great QB.

If the injury situation doesn't improve (and we therefore field the same team we did on Saturday), I see about a 38-6 win for Mich. I know it's now looking unlikely, but if a few key players return at full strength (3 or 4 of BBC, Travis, Rogers, Poock, Campion, Bobek), I think it could be in the neighborhood of the TCU score.

I'm guessing a similar score. Michigan's defense has been playing lights out even with 2 starting linebackers having to sit out during stretches of the past 2 weeks due to a couple questionable targeting calls.

Michigan State showed that the one way to beat this defense is to have your QB throw 320+ yards against the man coverage on the outside. I don't think Minnesota has a duo that's comparable to Cook and Burbridge for MSU. I just don't think ML can take advantage of the press man that Michigan will be playing all night.

I also think Harbaugh and Company will be looking to atone for the MSU blunder with a statement game on the road at night.

31-10 Michigan

You know what's funny? On a Michigan forum last night we were discussing how we all thought we were cursed as well.

  • Appalachian State - blocked field goal for major upset loss
  • Toledo - 2 Kickoff returns for a touchdown for a major upset loss
  • Colorado - 60 yard hail-mary for upset loss
There were like 10 other points we had on that list as well, but I will stop there because I don't want to kill my current Sunday vibe...
If you think the Michigan football program is cursed, please leave now. You have no idea what cursed is.

You seem to care a lot for a guy who took the time to start his own thread to announce to everyone that he had written off this season.

Unfortunately for us, if there was ever a time when Ruddock plays his best game and hits those open receivers down field rather than over/under throwing them, it will be on Halloween. Why? Because we're cursed.

OMG! You stole that thought right out of my head when I read this post.

('oh, he's having trouble hitting the deep ball? well, he'll figure it
out against us, even if he never hits another one again all season')

If you've watched every game this season, you couldn't even argue with this....

Michigan was out gained by 150 yards.
Out first-downed by double.
Lost the turnover battle.

They are hardly as good as people think they are.
I would take the gophers plus 10....no idea what the line is.

Here's the problem. Right now they're physically tougher than we are. Maybe Elvia the witch can put a hex on them for Halloween.
