Seeing Bruininks (with the blessing of the Board of Regents) can pretty much fire whomever he wants, my guess is that he'll be as involved with the coaching situation as much as he wants to be.

I have said this before but I am worried that Bruininks is an academic version of Brewster. All talk, alot of passion but unable to deliver. What happens if 4 or five big names reject us and we end up with a lesser known coach (who may or may not succeed). BB needs to shut up and hire a coach before the "kill shot" gloating.

Did he learn nothing from the Brewster debacle?

Winnipeg, I was skeptical of Bruininks' ability when he became University President, but he has done a lot for the place. I think the goal of top three research universities remains out of likely reach, but he's improved our position nationally in that regard.

That said, I have no idea how his involvement here will ultimately fare.

no it is not. JM is the one doing the hiring, JM has the final say on the hiring. i am not sure why you think BB has the power, when he does not. JM is the person who will be hiring the coach not BB.

BB will help JM, but JM will be the one to pick the coach not BB.


I don't need to listen to what BB is saying.
