Joe Paterno’s first interview since the Penn State-Sandusky scandal

Paterno tries, and tried to have it both ways. On the one hand he built the program and culture at Penn State. He was the CEO of Penn State. On the other hand, he didn't know what to do? That is an excuse. He was surrounded by State Police at games, most probably he knew them. He was out and about for over 40 years, off seasons and he knew probably everyone in University Park, including the Police Chief. There had been other off field issues and he had advisors. Not knowing what to do is not only weak, its not a reason its an excuse. Stop and think for a minute would the 1970's Joe Paterno ever accepted I didn't know what to do from any player or coach? His only excuse is he coached a little too long, and the idea he could go out on his own terms got him this. Own it Joe.
