It will be interesting to see how they grade out at the NFL Combine, and where they ultimately get drafted.
Schmitz was the number 1 center in the draft according to ESPN but can’t remember how recent the rankings were.

typical. Never a Michigan fan and can't wait for a subpar TCU team to whoop their ass.

I'm guessing all three were pretty close. Will be curious as to how the three do in the NFL as to perhaps was the best.

Yup. I don't spend time grading CFB centers (lol), but PFF does and reported that JMS was not only the highest graded C in the country, he was the highest graded OL period. Apparently that didn't trasnfer to awards season, but we'll see whether it translates to draft status. It's pretty well known that the NFL leans heavily on PFF

NFL players say PFF is a joke

That might be (although I've never heard/seen that), but I do know though that PFF claims every NFL team pays them big money for both their NFL and college grades -- and I've never seen that disputed anywhere. So I'm guessing those teams think it's worth something.

Does anyone have the PFF score for Oluwatimi? I can’t see it since I don’t subscribe. What I can see:

Schmitz: #1 at 92.4
Neilon: #2 at 90.2 (the other finalist)
Oluwatimi: looks like he was #14, can’t see the score

Bussing with the boys talked about it on their podcast before, NFL coaches take 0 stock in NFL pff grades because they watch every damn Snap and grade it themselves, pff people don't always know what's a good play and what's not

Yup, I think NFL teams listen to PFF as much as they do Mel Kiper.

Regardless of PFF, the coaches and media that saw both of them the most voted JMS as 1st team in the Big Ten.

It is what it is but still ridiculous how much of a popularity contest these awards have become.

Pretty sure being selected as one of the top 3 centers in all of college football is actually a sign of a great deal of respect.

Congrats to JMS, bummer he didn't win but being a finalist for an award like that is still a major honor.
The kid should have won.

FWIW, the vote by the Big Ten coaches for First Team All-Big Ten center was tied between JMS and Oluwatimi. But the media sided with JMS.

Rimington stunk up the place as a pro, maybe for the best JMS did not win it.
It didn't help Eslinger much either. IIRC He lasted a few years, with a couple(?) of teams. With that said, Eslinger was one of the best college centers I've seen Especially in Mason's system. Dominant college center.

Nice award, but it doesn't determine whether you are a good fit for the NFL or not.

With John Michael-Schmitz size, I think he can have a long NFL career and hopefully get a ring like Ray Hitchcock did.

If you are going to pay someone 7 figures, I'd think you'd want in house evaluations completed.

Don’t think pff grades should be completely dismissed because those bussin’ brosephs and Mike Zimmer trashed them. Excited to see JMS in the draft process and his evals and ultimately his draft position and team.
