Maybe I dont pay enough attention to numbers...when did the start allowing numbers higher than 5 in NCAA?

How would that be possible with a roster of up to 16 people?
That would be easy. 1,2,3,4,5,10,11,12,13,14,15, etc.
Could it be as long as it's a single digit #? I'm assuming so refs can give # to scorer with 1 release. Just a guess.

For years they did not allow a digit greater than 5. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 10,11,12, 13, 14, 15 and so on. HIghest number was 55.

I think this is it...always thought it had to do with the ref signalling the scorer's table
