So today new Illini coach John Groce said he's not going to retain Jerrance Howard moving forward.

Assuming there truly is movement on the staff, he's a guy Tubby should try to hire. He likes to recruit, he's good at it, he's young and he has good Midwest ties.

I can't imagine he'll say on the job market for too long.

I agree, long term if the Gophers could get a quality player out of Illinois or Michigan every year in addition to retaining the top Minnesota kids, the program would be in great shape. http://illinois.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=2386&Team=29&Sport=2&Year=2013

The only possible drawback is that he might be best served in the "Saul" role as the young assistant of the 3 on staff. We know Saul is not leaving so would a young assistant replacing a veteran like Jirsa or Taylor be a good move?
