Hope so. I also have to give a shout out to Chip Scoggins...another total non-dink.Perhaps we finally have a local sports media guy who's not a dink!
If Smith puts it all together for his final year that could truly make this secondary special and one of the best in the country.Good to hear that Terell Smith is making plays. Lots of physical talent and if he puts it all together, he's going to be a big-time contributor. Was dynamite as a freshman.

The younger guys in the local sports media seem to be less dinkish and more excited about covering Gopher football...and anything else in general. Guys like Reusse, Walters, Souhan, etc. were subject to years of terrible Minnesota football and now you can throw in glaucoma, shingles, getting up every 2 hours at night to pee, early onset dementia, and every other old guy ailment and you have a bunch of crusty old men that find cynicism in everything.
In defense of the younger generation, my son gets almost all of his Gopher sports news from short, quick posts on social media platforms. He doesn't even know what a Patrick Reusse is.One problem with the news is that people get attached to the old guard for nostalgia reasons. In the current digital age there's not room for very many bylines at the mainstream outlets. Those jobs are as hard to get as a major head coaching job, largely because the old guys never leave. MSP had the most durable of these men (and they are almost all men) in Sid Hartman. We all loved Sid, but another guy could have had an entire career in Sid's spot from age 65-100.
It's a lot like our Congress which is the oldest it has ever been in American history. Or how neither party has nominated a presidential candidate under age 70 since 2012. People get attached to the names they know, and systems are designed to keep the names people know in place, when they should be giving new voices a chance.
Sounds like you have raised him right. In defense of the younger generation, my son gets almost all of his Gopher sports news from short, quick posts on social media platforms. He doesn't even know what a Patrick Reusse is.
