Jedd Fisch to Florida, PJ to Washington?

Fleck is going nowhere unless the U gives him the boot. He's fully established his brand here and has free reign in the athletic department. Leaving would be ridiculously foolish on his part in terms of risk alone

What risk? He’s 45 made like $50 mil. A contract with Washington would likely be in the 7 year, $55 mil range. So he’d guaranteed $100+ mil career earnings and retired at 52 if he fails so bad he never gets any other job.

Risk his reputation as an above average (sometimes) coach?

This sounds like a thread that was started by PJ'S agent so he can get another raise. I like PJ but I don't think anyboby is offering him a job after his last two years here.
We live in a fishbowl like every other fanbase. We always inflate the importance of our guys on the national stage. It's just like the fears that Drake Lindsey will leave. He's not as big a deal as we think he is. Here is a top 50 quarterback list from CBS sports. Drake doesn't even make the list.

Do I think he's better than this? Yes, but the point is there are a lot of good, young QBs in the nation. There are also a lot of good, young coaches.

The bigger question is why would Florida want Jedd Fisch

Because they are striking out on higher level candidates and Fisch is a Florida grad and has the recommendation of Steve Spurrier.

Not saying it would be a good hire, just answering the question as to why Florida might hire him.

As I've said numerous times before, his brand is more important to him than any dollar amount. He's gotten the full backing of the U to continue to promote his brand, and he's had years to spread it state and regionwide. I'm 100% convinced that, although it's hugely important to Fleck and necessary for his ability to continue to influence, football is secondary to RTB and philanthropic achievements are his #1 priority, which make him such a lock to the rank and file at the U.

Laugh all you want, but Fleck's "shtick" has never shown to be a fake sales pitch over the past 12-13 years and it resonates within the U outside of the leadership in the AD. Because of this, it makes no sense for him to start it over somewhere else. He has every resource he could want or need here.

Unless he goes 4-7 next season and gets fired. Then what?

Leaving for a better job makes sense logically, plus starts a new career clock for him at an age it might make sense, too.

Bigger issue is, I don't think he's going to be a high level candidate after this season. Not sure he'll have any legit job offers (unlike some previous seasons when he did have some real flirtations).

FWIW I’m an ardent supporter of Fleck, RTB and the culture he has implemented. A lot of coaches “run their course” and he’s nearing that typical timeline. At this point he is in the top 10ish for longest tenured coaches and with less success than many of those ahead of him on the list.

The Jedd Fisch stuff is crazy to me. I've seen his name floated around at Florida and I think this is really a desperation play to make DJ Lagway something he currently is not - a competent QB.

The guy will likely finish two seasons .500 in the Big 10, he was well under .500 in his time in the Pac 10, he doesn't have a dynamic personality. If I am at Florida, there are about 30 coaches I would prefer over Fisch, including PJ (I know there is zero chance PJ goes to Florida).

The quiet rumor around Montlake is Jed Fisch wants out of Washington only because in August his wife and kids packed up and moved back to Tucson to be closer to their friends and schools there. Jed married up and I’m sure he doesn’t want to lose her. I have no verification, but no reason to doubt it’s been personally challenging for him and his family.

Knowing this, I wouldn’t think he’d want to move to Florida, which is three time zones away with longer flights to visit.
