Seven years with John Gruden's resume on your bathroom mirror?

"And, right now in my office at home, is a framed picture of his Sports Illustrated cover that says, 'I'm obsessed,'" Fisch said.

Glad we cleared that up.

(Is it good news or bad news that if our coordinators blow it their next stop is Winona?)

Fisch = Driven

That is strange. Are we supposed to be impressed by that?

Every coach thinks they're original. Most all of them are in the same cookie-cutter mode. Fisch is no different.

I'm confused why you guys are so surprised that in a profession where motivation is a daily part of the job, that they use motivators for themselves.

Is it really that complicated?

Happy, happy. Joy, joy.

I don't think he was trying to be original. To me, his answers were meant to show the level of drive he believes he has. Obviously he thinks other coaches (like Gruden) have the same drive and he wants to emulate their success. Profiles like this are the creation of the person doing the profiling (i.e. Youngblood). The theme of the story was "driven young coach on the rise" and Youngblood used answers that Fisch gave him to paint that picture.

Ha, you haters are tools. How many of you are engaged in the exact profession you've been dreaming about your entire adult lives, and, nonetheless, are getting paid $325 k to do so?

Wanna let me know? K thanks.

I have a chart in my bathroom with the updated post count of every Gopherhole member and then I study them as I brush my teeth in the morning. One day! One day!

I personally prefer this picture of Gruden on my bathroom mirror.

Fisch sounds very type A, but isn't football kind of a type A sport? If he succeeds, you will buy his book and reminisce about his time here, and how you knew from the beginning he would succeed.

I've got little motivational pictures/phrases taped all over my place in inconspicuous places. On the lip of drawers so I see the phrases when I open the drawer, in the corner of a mirror, under my keyboard that I see when I stow my keyboard to do homework, etc. It's nice to see positivity in places you don't expect.

Hear hear. Anybody here wear a Gopher jersey, even though you will never play for them? There are fans of teams, fans of movie stars, fans of frickin' Bill Gates. Whatever works for you each day. If you are a productive member of society, more power to you. Let's end this thread now...

I love the fact that Studwell calls someone else 'creepy'

That would be like Barreiro calling someone else 'ugly.'

Have mentioned this previously...sat down with Fisch in mid Feb. for a lengthy Q & A for that other site...his attention to detail is off the charts...super impressive...it'll be an adjustment for him to call plays for the 1st time, but fully expect him to be successful.

Well, that's all we heard about Dunbar's system too. Details, details, details. Dunbar forgot more football than others knew, Dunbar is a magician, Dunbar has experience, blah, blah, blah.

It didn't work here. I don't think Dunbar fell into the dumb truck. I would think if you're a successful D1 coach at a BCS school, you are going to have attention to detail.

I hope Fisch is a big success for the Gophers. But, if he is, he'll be gone in a heartbeat as his notebook reminds of his big dream.

I read that article and thougt, I would love to have a guy that driven coaching my football team. What planet are you guys on? That was a great article.

Perish the thought, but I actually agree with you wholeheartedly. For a Badger fan, you're pretty smart. :D

Take it back. Or hand in all your gopher gear.

Hey, we've got to provide praise when they get things right. I house trained my Badger alum roommate a couple of years ago with a rolled-up newspaper and treats to reward good behavior.

It's like Cesar Milan says: exercise, discipline, affection.

I'm not debating your point (I think all of us would be pretty envious of Fisch's job), but for the record, Dunbar was making $266K with all of his experience, I doubt Fisch is making much more than $200k (if even), especially with the buyouts we're paying out. Not that that's anything to sneeze at ;)

What does Winona have to do with this?
