Jason Dickson - OL

Assuming no more transfers...with the current commits, looks like 12 scholarship OL (Cooper did the maroon shirt or whatever and I think Cody Smith Ruschmeyer are walkons)

Assuming we hit the OL hard next cycle. Would still love one more this cycle

I agree. I think this class could really use another 2 OL. We are lucky that our OL is very young, we will only have 1 SR next season. But we could really use a couple more OL to balance the classes.

Nate Umlor and Ben Davis are bowing out. Fourteen remain. Of which, Axel Ruschmeyer and Cody Smith are PWOs. We have Martes Lewis and Aireontae Ersery coming in with the 2020 Class if they make it to Early NSD.

The program is not quite at the level of Wisconsin yet. Had Quinn Carroll and Bryce Benhart decided to stay home, that would have been a blockbluster recruiting class. The Gophers need to be lucky and score an OL recruiting coup like they did at IMG Academy with Dunlop and Fa'alele.

It will be interesting how JJ Guedet, Kyle Sassack, and Tyler Cooper step up next season. Hopefully, Jason Dickson can be much improved.

I still don't get how they haven't involved TEs in pass catching plays instead of being primarily blockers. It is not in Kirk Ciarrocca's offensive scheme yet. Just look at how the Wisconsin TE totally destroyed the Gophers Defense on a couple of big plays. I think Brevyn Spann-Ford can foot the bill as a game changer scoring threat. Talent does matter a lot on the Offensive Line. If we don't, we have to painstakingly develop them.

Looking at the recruiting profile of some of those guys, you have to think they were W Michigan commits who then came over with Fleck (or guys Fleck originally started targeting at WMU).

Someone said that was the case with Umlor, and looks like maybe the case with Sassack too, and perhaps Beier. Would also definitely think that was the case for JMS, but he has cracked the starting lineup, so it can be done.

I'm sure landing Faalele and Dunlap were very unexpected, both the staff as well as the other OL who had committed in that class. Those two have pretty much locked down two starting roles, and made it very difficult for others to crack the lineup.

It is really critical to stock up every class with Big Ten caliber Offensive Linemen. That is easier said than done.
