james green is golden

Green sounds like a really good get, but I am worried about bringing in a guy who's been away from football for a year. You can really lose a lot of skill when you are inactive for a significant amount of time. Great signing and beating out Rutgers is not insignificant with Schiano at the helm and the fact that Rutgers put 2 WR's in the NFL last year.

I really, really hope the Gophers hold on to Hawkins though, his loss would really hurt this class.

Another Wide Receiver Commit

This is wonderful to get another wide receiver with the February class. My only question is...Is there anybody on the team who can throw him the ball accurately? It seems like most wide receivers need a quarterback with accuracy to fulfill their role on a football team?

Wait until Hayo gets some degree of playing time before we label him a total bust.

Great pick up for the Gophers. Let's get back to football and away from all the Brewster drama.

This is a very big get for Brewster. Now if we could just find a big O T or two somewhere to give our QB some time to find him. Anyone know of one?

Its a concern for me too but I still like the pickup. I assume that the coaching staff has made sure he has been working out and has kept himself in shape. Making it in time for spring practice should help him out as well.

Its fair to call him a bust for the past season. He was preseason 2nd team all Big Ten and did nothing all year. I'm certainly not giving up on him but we can be honest and say that for whatever reason he was a complete non-factor this year.

If he was not a bust, he would have had much more playing time during the first of his only 2 years of eligibility. It will certainly be an absolute shocker if he comes out of nowhere and produces next year. That's for sure

with how bad our offense was last year, if he wasn't able to get play time, then it will never happen. Come on man he was run down by a d linemen.

Geen is in the exact same situation as Marquise Gray was coming into this season and one could argue that losing a season is far more important for a QB than for a WR. Unless he's not worked out at all--which is highly unlikely--he's someone who can help us out as early as next fall.

Is there a way to get Shattuck to become a prep school for football? Don't they offer a 13th for college prep? Similiar to the prep program in NJ?

Another bust like Hayo, Spry and Howell? Hopefully not and this guy contributes in 2010

Time for Green to be a go-to playmaker

Wow, he's not even here and it's already time for him to be a go-to playmaker? He's going to come in as a frosh, just like Decker, Green, and McKnight did. Can't expect a lot out of him right away. If he comes in and contributes right away, then great. But you can't expect him to.

There are exceptions out there, but Junior year is the year most WR's come into their own. There is alot to learn, it takes more than talent. Decker exploded early because there was nobody else ready to claim first target. I don't think that will be the case in the next two years.

I think he was talking about Brandon Green.

This is old news prolly but I just read on Sids column that Green's scholarship so far is non-binding. So, does that mean that he hasn't officially signed with us yet? Trying not to be too paranoid, but having some of these guys switch their committments made me hope that he was already signed up.
