Jameis Winston pushes official, no penalty called

I saw that somewhere else. I can't believe he wasn't flagged. What a ******.

Don't like this guy at all. Don't like his team. Don't like their Coach.

He won't get to play by his own special set of rules in the NFL. Amazing he gets away with it in college.

I don't think he'll get to play by any set of rules in college, I can't imagine and NFL GM or coach wanting this clown in their organization.

He will absolutely be a high pick in the draft unless he totally blows something during the combine/workout phase (which given his track record is certainly a possibility). Kid is a moron but he is a talented moron and some NFL team will take, in fact many NFL teams would take him and try to change him.

I saw the play in question and was amazed the ref did not throw the flag as Winston is literally pulling and shoving him away from the line of scrimmage while he (the ref) is simply following the rules and giving BC time to substitute. Would love an explanation as to why he didn't throw the flag there. And of course FSU manages to escape again, they must have 9 lives or something.

As much as I hate Winston...what was the ref doing? everyone was lined up for a snap, he's trying to get to the center, and the ref fends him off, then runs back to position. very odd...

FSU substituted, so the Ref was making sure the defense has time to sub.

So sick of watching Winston. Just wish somebody would beat those guys already. Love him or hate him though the kid does have some game.

Not a fan of Winston but he reacted IMO the way any QB would trying to get under center & the Ref is in the way. The Ref also put his hands on him first as Winston was already moving to take the snap. He also had his palms inward so he wasn't being aggressive & at the end he did say something to him but he was probably frustrated. You're a Ref & you're aware that there's a Playclock... MOVE!

With all due respect I totally disagree. If a ref is standing there intentionally trying to stop you from snapping the ball as a player you wait for the ref to move and allow the play to begin. There was a play in the NFL where the ref lined up by the defense was in the way and a linebacker moved him which I see no issue with but in this case the ref is halting the play to give BC time to sub and Winston just totally shrugs him off in an effort to get to the ball. Absolutely amazed that he didn't throw a flag and wonder if there will be any punishment handed down after the fact because Winston pushed the guy out of the way.

But hey Jimbo apparently thinks the refs did a great job in that situation....so it is all good.

I don't envision the ACC suspending the star player on their only relevant program.

Sadly this is probably true as they want FSU in the playoff as much as FSU does and will most likely be willing to keep on bending and breaking the rules for this thug in order to keep him on the field and keep FSU winning. To many millions at stake to do the right thing in this case.

I don't think you realize what the situation was then. Florida St. was trying to run a hurry up in the 3rd quarter, but they substituted. So the ref is supposed to do exactly what he did to allow the defense to sub. It is the rule.

Plus the ref put his hand out to stop him, then Winston tried twice to push him out of the way. If his name is not Jameis, a flag gets thrown and the player may get ejected.

Truth.

I have been pulling for FSU to lose for a long time because of him. This view makes it ridiculous that there wasn't a flag. Just plain ridiculous.

Juxtapose the Gopher story vs. FSU. As we approach Thanksgiving, let's be thankful for the blessing of Jerry Kill and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. And let's never again subscribe to the adage that "good guys finish last".

Not only a flag - this should have been an ejection. This seems similar to the incredible amount of disrespectful abuse officials put up with from various egomaniac coaches for no obvious reason.

Although I wouldn't characterize this as an act of aggression with intent to cause bodily harm, it should have been a penalty. What were the refs thinking and in particular the one that got shoved?!? This is a case of the inmate running the asylum.

@McMurphyESPN: ACC says contact b/w Winston & official in BC game incidental & insignificant; didn’t deserve unsportsmanlike penalty

Much ado about nothing. This is football not soccer. The ref has a whistle, why is standing between the QB and center. The rule is the ball can't be snapped until the ref puts it in play...doesn't say the QB can't be under center waiting for the go ahead.

Regardless, it was a nothing incident during a football game. I am all for bashing 22 year old kids for doing boneheaded stuff like stealing crab legs or shoplifting at the mall of america, but this isn't something worthy of such an effort IMO.

The ball is in play, there is a 40 second clock. If the ref isn't there, he snaps the ball and all hell breaks loose. I agree it's not a foul, but an interesting play that may lead to another rule.
