From Pro Football Focus:

Opposing quarterbacks are having a hard time figuring out Minnesota cornerback Jalen Myrick. When throwing at him, they combine for a total passer rating of 22.8. That is the lowest opposing rating in the country among qualified cornerbacks. Myrick has allowed a total of 14 receptions on 181 snaps through six games. His combined grade for the season is +14.7. One of the quarterbacks that tested Myrick this year was TCU stud Trevone Boykin.

The Georgia native is making a name for himself in a Minnesota defensive backfield that already boasts two NFL prospects in Eric Murray and Briean Boddy-Calhoun. Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr (+3.9) will get the next shot at Myrick on Saturday in Minneapolis.

Is that even fair or legal... I think you guys should bench him.... at least for the next game, he's just toooo good.:p

The thought has crept into my head that the Gophers might loose Myrick to the NFL next year. I know there's A LOT of football left this year and things can shift, but if Myrick continues to play well and gets a lot of time due to secondary injuries, he might be gone. Making plays, great speed (not here to discuss measurement type - lets just agree he's fast). Having said that....maybe I'm just way off base.

They better tighten their grip on him. BA-DUM!

Maybe the prospect of the Thorpe award next year might interest him he has to be in the conversation.

I would not throw to his dude. Of course sometimes he's just floating around back there.

He can return kicks, which helps. He's got the 40 time. He's got pretty good size (in terms of height and weight). Not sure what his measures are for length, but it seems like you have to hit the mark on all 3 of those measurables to get into the first couple of rounds (if not, you better have Trae Wayne's like tape, which he doesn't). If you're not in that range, why leave?

I'm not worried about it. If he were to leave as a highly touted junior, which is unlikely right now, that's even better for the program. That's turned into the #1 thing most recruits look at (most, not all).

Myrick has been very good this year. Now if only pro football focus actually meant anything...

The #1 thing recruits look at is how many Fortune500 companies there are in town. I kid. I kid.

Our recruiting classes do nothing but impress me year after year. Great kid, as usual.

There was a span of a couple series in one of the games (Ohio, maybe?) where it seemed like the QB was targeting Myrick on damn near every throw, and connecting on most of them. Either I'm remembering wrong, or he has locked down his man on pretty much every other snap.

Either way, this is great to see!

Ohio is what I remember as well. That WR (he looked big) seemed to use his body alot to get positioning on the ball and it seemed to really frustrate Jalen, visibly frustrated at one point.

In any case, he has looked really good since then.

I hope we don't lose him - but how crazy would it be for us to have potentially 5 (!) DBs drafted next year? Obviously all 5 would not be "locks" to be drafted, but still...

he has been tested because Murray has been tasked with covering the #1 WR and it only makes sense to throw away form Murray or even BBC.

he has stepped up and done a fine job this season

Would be cool, but correct me if I am wrong, but Antonio Johnson has always been a long shot and Travis' injury woes probably won't help his cause this year. Then again I didn't think Vereen or Thompson would get drafted before their combines, never know

I think Travis has shown enough on film that if he does well in his workouts (and maybe combine?) someone will take him.
