Jah Joyner was held on that last play

He was held repeatedly n close 2 being tackled on a few plays. I get that holding occurs often but if the zebras at least called it a few times when we play the highly ranked teams it would help.
Yeah it does seem that calling a few early helps set the expectation.

Holding is typically not what people actually think holding is.

Is he slowed down?
Is there an actual tug of the uniform?
Is he taken to the ground?
Does it affect the play?
Is he just overpowered?

Just a few to think about

Just watched it. It’s questionable for sure. Might get called if the QB isn’t rushed and releases the ball.

Just went to re-watch that play and yes, looks like holding.

There was a really similar holding the Vikings game today that didn't get called. It didn't end up mattering because I think we got the sack anyway, but the ref looked like he was looking right at it and still didn't throw a flag.

Mmmm. Interesting take.

I've been a football fan for a year or two, and maybe I have an inflated opinion of my own football acumen but think I have a pretty good understanding of what holding is.

Sometimes they call it, sometimes they don't and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to when they call it and when they don't.

Jah Joyner was a force to be reckoned with last night, and, yes, I seem to recall seeing him getting grabbed rather obviously on several plays.

If I had to block him, I'd probably hold every play and hope they missed it. The guy is a beast.

Probably the best analysis you've posted, ever.

Yeah, that's what my eyes were telling me too.

I've seen enough football to know what is usually called holding in the NFL and college (and what isn't), there were a number of plays in last night's game where Joyner was being held. A couple of them were pretty egregious at pretty big times.

So, basically every play

Around the 9 or 10 minute mark, Joyner was held on two consecutive plays. On the second one, it was more egregious than the first, and he looked right at the referee and threw his hands up. The very next play, clearly PO'd and steam coming out of his ears, he blew by the tackle and hit the QB as he was throwing, leading to the interception. The Gophers would use that drive to tie the game.

It was like someone hit the power up for beserk mode in a video game. He shot out of that stance like he was shot out of a cannon.

Do the Gopfs have two players wearing number 16?🤔

There was a play in the Baltimore game where their tight end got yanked by the facemask after a catch right in front of the line judge that didn't get called, too. What some of these guys will throw flags for compared to some of the egregious things they don't is nuts

Maybe I am missing a joke here or something but double numbers are very common in college football right now and. yeah there are two #16s. Coleman Bryson on defense and Max Brosmer on offense.

Had no idea that numbers were duplicated. Swore I saw our quarterback playing in the secondary. Thought it may have been the beer. 😵

I watched the replay of Koi's INT on the game's last play and USC's RT committed an obvious hold on Jah Joyner. Turned out to be a non-factor with the INT, thankfully.
Whining about officiating when you win is worse than when you lose. It was a good game. We played well. We had more than a few go our way. They missed more than one hikd or foul committed against us.

We also had several non calls go our way, including what could have been called PI against Gousby. He had his hand inside the receivers collar pulling him down which allowed Perich to get the ball more cleanly.

If we were playing Michigan (or Ohio State) that would have been called.

You can focus on a missed hold here or there if you want, but I personally really like game over vs. 1st and Goal on the 1.

Enjoy the win.

I don't know if I'd call it whining here. Just pointing out missed calls and discussing the rules. There was definitely whining after the Michigan game though. There does seem to be a pattern developing for Jah not getting calls to go his way. It will be interesting to see if more start to get called, like Graham got them to be called for Michigan (and those were for sure holding, not saying they weren't).

I disagree though that Gousby would have been called for PI by most refs, but like you said, maybe if it was preserving a perfect season for OSU they would have.

There was also a missed false start on the Williams int. That miss obviously worked out well for us!
