Jacques Perra transfering

Question? Is wait!what ? transferring with him?

He had d1 offers. He chose to walk on over that. Not exactly the same thing. And to the second part, that's like saying what if Tom Brady was a walk on? Well he's not. So you can't really make that argument. Both sides are hyperbole. You assume you find a good qb with your scholarship offers. If a walk on is a stud (incredibly rare), then yes obviously he'd play

I was replying to someone who said they never would want a walk on QB playing. I gave an example of a walk on QB playing.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Brady example? He had multiple scholarship offers. I was pointing out that Leidner was very close to being a walk on, and it wouldn't change his ability one bit if he had Walk On in front of his name

Gustavus is graduating a very prolific passer and has in place a very QB-friendly offense. Hmmmmmm...

Will the Gophers ever be the same without the great Jacques Perra?

Seriously, half the posters on here were demanding that we give a chance to a kid who is going to st. thomas in the miac.

I think JP will do fine at that level

Maybe he should have gone the JC route to begin with and then transferred to a D1 team then but i really dont think he would have given us a lift at the QB position unless Z was such a terrible judge of talent and thought he would protect his recruits over a walk on

Also said the U sold Perra a bill of goods to get him to walk on as a emergency QB if needed, noting he didn't fit their QB mold. He wasted two years, but will get to play three still.

I have no clue what was "sold" to JP, but if you walk on to any D1 school you will have to earn playing time. Seems perfectly logical to me.

I have no idea if it's true or not, but maybe it was a question about fit.

He probably knew he didn't fit their mold, expressed concerns and was reassured that was not the case. I have no idea if that was the case, but I think that's the point he was trying to make, not playing time.

Wonder if it has to do with Croft having his redshirt pulled for nothing. If I were Perra and I felt I had some ability, that would have been enough to drive me away. At the same time, I'm not exactly feeling sorry for him. Two years as a QB on a D-1 football team has got to be great experience, even if you don't play.

and he's dating carlie wagner, so the dude did just fine during his u tenure.

per Shama:

St. Thomas football coach Glenn Caruso told Sports Headliners Gopher transfer Jacques Perra, who will be a sophomore next fall, is a leading candidate for the starting quarterback job. Tommies’ spring practices started earlier this month and continue into May.

Go Gophers!!

First of all, all the best to JP! Secondly, this is great news, it means we are recruiting kids that are better than players that are already on the roster. Pre Jerry Kill this didn't happen much. JP knew he was never going to play, too much talent around him to see the field, saw the writing on the wall and looked for another opportunity. WIN/WIN

But Gopherholers said he was the best QB on the roster!
