Jacob Ross, a 6-foot-6 small forward in the 2025 class, has committed to Minnesota

Well that happened quick.....just seemed to get on the radar a week or so ago...

WELCOME JACOB!!!

247 link ... we beat out Old Dominion, Albany, Coastal Carolina and College of Charleston.
Jacob is in California...we are his closest offer to home. Seems odd to me? I know it's the 90's and we got airplanes and stuff but nobody in the western half of the United States thinks he can play? What's up? Yet, he is ranked 174th nationally...so they think he is pretty good.

And the UConn Gophers here... Announcement

He just moved to California from Long Island. Brother plays for UConn. Ben told him he's the next Cam Christie.

on Twitter, I've seen posts identifying Ross as a 4-Star player - and I've also seen posts identifying him as a 3-Star player.

I assume this is one of those deals where the recruiting services have different ratings, and the people doing the posting are citing the recruiting service of their choice or preference.

after further searching - 247 and On3 have Ross as a 3-Star. ESPN and Rivals have him as a 4-Star.

But a Strib article claims that 247 has him as a 4-Star. so I'm confused.

A kids offers are a much better indicator than some recruiting site's analysis, re: 3 vs 4 star.

Welcome Jacob!

Go Gophers!!

Even though the Strib is anti-Gophers-basketball...they list everyone as a 4-star.

I don't know anything about this kid in particular. But if he ever becomes a valuable commodity, he's gone.

I may be wrong, but I thought I read he had an offer from Kansas State too?? Watched some of highlights from his junior year....doesn't look like much of a shooter but he's athletic and gets a lot of offensive rebounds/hustle baskets. Was playing against very good competition. Who knows?
