Izzo let’s his team play dirty

You shouldn't have a choice Tom. He should be suspended.

If he really wants to send a message to the kid he will sit but at the very least he is publicly calling him out for his BS.

I know there are plenty who don't like Izzo but I don't believe he would be coaching guys to play dirty, he typically has more talent then other teams so he doesn't have to resort to crap like that.

Noticed izzo was making excuses for him while also blaming fears. Izzos ego won't fully accept that his player is dirty
Izzo will be remembered as a great coach, but he really gets a pass (as did Bobby Knight) as the media calls his teams tough, disciplined, physical, blah, blah, and another blah. Dick Bennett was probably the master of the approach of basically having his guys tackle the opponents early in the game so that things slightly less physical (and often dirty) don't get called later.

It really puts opposing coaches--especially those without the cachet--of trying to play the same style and have three of their starters in foul trouble at the ten-minute mark.

To his defense, Izzo will go watch the film and Fears will get the wrath. Izzo isn't going to go all in until he sees all the plays. Fears looked like he didn't even want to be there last night. It was just odd behavior and body language. Reynold's plays with an edge and Fears resorted to being cheap and wilting.

I think it's crazy that Fears didn't get disqualified from the game for a dead ball kick to the groin. That should have been a flagrant 2 and disqualification. I don't see the league doing anything other than a warning.

The officials do no favors to the teams by calling 7 fouls in the first half and then 28 in the second half. They continuously let them play for 20 and then crack down. It's so annoying. Call the stuff early and the players adapt and play freer or foul out. Although with 6-7 man rotation we benefit a bit from the loose whistle in first halves of games.

After the UM - MSU game this past wknd, Michigan coach as well was unhappy with Izzo for this.

Clutching and grabbing is one thing, but tripping and head slapping are another.

Ironically, the Davisons and Allens of the world have made these things a point of emphasis in rules and enforcement, but Fears still got away with multiple offenses in one half of basketball. Michigan State is one of the coddled darlings of the sport.

Reynolds lack or reaction to the kick is probably what saved Feers. Had Reynolds dropped like someone normally would when kicked in that area he almost certainly would have gotten Feers ejected on the review.

Brad Davison probably wasn't well known enough Nationally to earn a spot over Feers's right shoulder.

Definitely not the reason you wan to be compared to Grayson Allen.

I thought he missed the jewels. About as accurate on the kick as he is from the arc.
I mean he must have missed because Reynolds barely reacted. That goodness he did miss because we needed Reynolds on the court not on the bench icing the jewels. :)

Hopefully Minnesota submits these filmed flagrant foul incidents to the Big Ten, which could suspend Fears for a game or two and put him on a short leash for future violations. Izzo should absolutely suspend Fears for the next game, but he won’t do that unless it s BTEN bottom feeder, because of tournament seedings.

I’m still trying to figure out how he didn’t get called for that shot to Reynolds head
Of all his dirty plays that one was far and away the dirtiest but I think he got away with that one because the action was on going so no ref probably saw it clearly.

Watching the compilation of all his jack ass moves the league really should step in and suspend him for at least a game. Izzo should do it but probably won't because their next game is against Illinois.
