As a preface, I'll fully acknowledge that this is pretty subjective and some (many?) will disagree with the sentiments expressed here. But bear with me.
I thought yesterday's game versus St Joe's was a great example. I expected a much closer game and some real close scoring in the second half. Go Gophers!
- Criticizing a player who is black is not the same as criticizing a player because he is black.
- We need to remember that for the first time in a long time we have depth. Is Cobbs the perfiect PG? Nope, not yet but he's got tons of promise. Are we seeing improvement with age? Absolutely: see Blake Hoffarber and Damian Johnson.
- Have we made improvements? No doubt in this fan's mind. First, there's a coach who is clearly in control and can/should command respect from his players and the fans. Second, while I have great respect for players who graduated recently, there's a feeling that today's players are much more able to compete head-to-head with top quality competition.
- Are we there yet? Nope, but we've made phenomenal steps and for those of us who were here during the end of the last regime, the difference is pretty clear. Pardon us if we're slower to throw up our hands and relegate us to the NIT or lower post-season competition.
