No way Smith should come back. And frankly, how the team does in the ncaa tournament should have to impact on his status. This years team was the best shot minn had to make a run in the foreseeable future....its all down hill from here!

With so many "fans" like yourself, there is no need to troll this board.

It's the sad truth. I have no doubt that a higher percentage of Becky fans respect this coach and team than do its own "fans".

You could tell us we're a lock to make the tournament, that'll upset us almost as much as if you compliment our coach.

Meh, if he wins a couple games he will probably be back.

with experienced guards next season, i don't buy into the down hill theory

for me, the statement from today''s game was take both, or neither. they are very close in quality

i fell off the tubby bandwagon after last season, RWE's foolish consistency. that said, my preference would be for this gopher team to be cinderella at this year's march madness. and, they'll have plenty of rest before that first game

Any gopher fan that doesn't see that this program is in horrible shape is blind. We have one of the nicest guys in the world coaching our basketball team, but he has no idea how to coach. He makes no game time decisions that work. He freezes during the game and never makes adjustments. The two fouls by a player in the first half rule has cost us FIVE games this year. Lets not forget that this is the second year in a row that he has brought in ZERO big ten caliber recruits to Minnesota and many of the previous recruits have no business playing big ten basketball (OTTO, Andre Ingram, Maverick, Mo, Coleman, Julian). All of his players are nice guys and it is nice to see that don't have a lot of tatoos, but the only true big ten players that we have are Trevor and Andre Hollins. I am a season ticket holder and my heart has been ripped out by the Northwestern, Nebraska and other losses this year. 9th place in the big ten this year is beyond pathetic and there is NO prospect for good times ahead under Tubby. Next year's Gopher basketball team will finish in a tie with Rutgers for the 13th worst record next year. SKi U mah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coleman is not a big ten pkayer?

Only true big ten players are Andre and Trevor? Not Austin, not Rodney?

You can be quiet now.

Ya think? Any ideas why that would be?

I'm sure Becky fans loved Tim Brewster and wanted him to stay a long, long time. But they didn't respect him. There's a difference.

I have no issue with those who want Tubby gone. I wouldn't really mind myself. But I refuse to believe Norwood Teague is going to base his decision on the result of any one basketball game and I refuse to root for them to lose.

Totally agree; I hope they go on a deep run in the tournament.

Here, here. The NCAA tournament is too fun and too big a deal to spend it bitter and wishing your team ill. It's 'go gophers' and let the chips fall where they will. The coaching situation will take care of itself; Norwood will make a sound and just decision.

I agree but this is not a team and coach you need to root on to defeat. Sadly, they manage losing games on their own.

NT only needs to look at the facts to move towards a new coach. Six years and you know the results as well as I. It just is not acceptable, IMHO.

Austin, Trevor and Andre are starters anywhere. Rodney would be a good starter on a lot of teams but you have to have a playmaker with him and a bunch of other shooters.
Coleman should not be a Big Ten starter at this point. He is easy to defense- just let him shoot, sag off of him. He is not a good ball handler or passer and not particularly good in Tubby's ball line either. He needs to develop a shot.

I think next year we have a better matched club with more shooters. With the right scheme (different coach), even with the loss of Mbakwe, we could be fine.
