Go Gophers!!
If wasn’t for bad luck this program would have no luck at all.
Go Gophers!!
Really does feel that way sometimes. Feel awful for both Ihnen and Fox to go through all that work to get back just to suffer the same injury again. If wasn’t for bad luck this program would have no luck at all.
YesIf wasn’t for bad luck this program would have no luck at all.
I would hope that they have a good floor as the players are on these floors for practices and just to come in and shoot. Good question though. What is the surface of the practice court where these injuries have taken place?
I know there have been studies showing wood floors being better for preventing knee injuries.
Sucks that this has happened to three mens players. What are the odds?
I see the usual 'woe is me' sentiment on this board about MN sports teams and injuries. If someone can cite some statistics showing that injuries at MN occur at a statistically significant higher rate than at other Power 5, please do so. If that is the case, they may need to look at their strength training, or the water, or... something productive. It is NOT the sports gods punishing us for some unknown slight.
Yeah well, screw Wisconsin!I feel like the sentiment, generally speaking, is not driven primarily by injuries but by this:

Its a mindset that expects a loss, I think. And not without evidence. I dunno if get hurt more or not though
EDIT: Should add of course that the most important thing here is how much this sucks for Isaiah, and the rest of the guys as well. Wishing him the best in recovery
The same two players in back to back years during the summer are out for the year in basketball. This is not just a injuries are part of sports. Can’t really make this up.Injuries are a part of sports.
we are more aware of the injuries that impact MN teams because those are the teams we follow most closely.
I'm sure there are other teams that also have injuries - we just don't pay as much attention to them.
So I am not going to start recycling the "MN Sports are Cursed" routine.
some people enjoy wallowing in self-pity.
I am going to take a healthier approach and eat a half-gallon of ice cream. that will make me feel better.
(in all seriousness, I have never eaten a half-gallon of ice cream at one time. a quart - yes.)
Try cross training. Repetitive stress caused by playing only 1 sport. Two men’s knees and a women’s knee, season ending, in the same summer???
Yep. Trainers and fitness experts have been saying this for a long time. The culture has forced young people still growing to adopt training regimens like pro athletes when they aren’t physically able to yet. We hear of the high profile players but there are plenty of others who feel like they need to play 12 months just to make a high school team and have no chance in college. Not surprised whatsoever. These guys are playing TOO MUCH BASKETBALL. Summers should be reserved for shooting, some ball handling, and cross training away from non-slip surfaces. These are devastating injuries; potentially career ending. Best of luck to Isaiah.
