I watch our guys and how they play soft against weak opponents and hard against tough ones and just wonder if this team has that killer instinct to go far in the tourny and not get tripped up like we did against UVa by getting surprised by an inferior team that has a great shooting night....hate to lose to Chaminade as a 3 seed because we took them lightly.

I remember our 97 team just loved killing weaker teams...no way that team lets EKU stay within 15 at the end...they finished these teams off.

The second line got an awful lot of time today, and just couldn't score. Hard to pull away when you can't make a basket.

Still very much a work in progress. The '97 team didn't have many seniors (Jackson & Thomas?) but they also didn't have as many freshmen getting as much time as our freshmen are. Also, between Al and Devoe, we haven't had a complete team.

With no more injuries or surprises, I see us getting gradually better throughout the year. With some breaks, there's a chance we could contend. Consistency is a big thing. You never know what Colton or what Ralph is going to show up. Would also help if Rodney figured it out.

'97 was an exceptional team. IMO, this team won't reach that level of play. Mainly, nobody to will us to wins like Bobby Jackson did. To get to another level, you usually need an outright star who can get you the big bucket or make the big play. Trevor might come the closest, but I simply don't see that type of player on this team.

Agreed...Hoff had a great second half today but against a top flight team...he isn't going to be so free with the ball in his hands. Joseph has the skills but doesn't seem to want to go inside this year...as much as I like Hollins and Big Mo...I think the Fr we have with the best potential to be a "take the game over' player is Chip. He can finish at the basket, shoot the mid well, run the floor and has a decent handle. If he gets the minutes and can grow in confidence...I can see him being a very tough stop down the stretch.

I too wish RW could figure this game out.

Work in progress of course, but I think we've transformed into a "tough" team. We used to be booby soft but with Trevor at PF, Chip on the perimeter, the maturation of Colt & Nolen's overall toughness I think we're born again hard.

toughness

Sampson had a great game today. He thrives playing next to Trevor. Hoff found him for quite a few wide open dunks. I wish Colt could get 1 or 2 starts with Trevor. When they are on the court together they dominate the boards. When Colt plays with Mo one of them has to play out of position.

This team is solid but its not final four good. I think Trevor is the only player I could see starting for that team. I think he is a little better than Courtney James.

tuff enough? Ya be tuff when ya gotta. Ya play with the little kids, when ya gotta. YES!! We are tough enough, just watch.

Clem did not play freshmen. Many of the guys who put in significant minutes today would not have sen the floor under Clem.
