Is this Badgers season among the worst of the century in the Big Ten?

It’s a crowded field, but they may be able to crack the Top 10, at least (and bump Minnesota’s only entry). They will need to continue to lose by a 3 TD average margin down the stretch.

I will be cheering for them. You can do it, Bucky!

I'm far from confident enough in the Gophers to think any team they play is a sure win. They are not that level but I'm optimistic that they will win if they play well. On paper they should win but paper don't win games.

I definitely don’t think it’s a sure win for the Gophers at all. I expect that game to be close. And we will see their best game of the year for sure. The Axe is the only thing left they (or their fans) seem to care about at this point.

This.

If we all remember 2007 are game. Mn was 1-10 and took WI to the wire. Nothing is guaranteed

Why give teams ammunition to play harder against us?
I remember Badger fans saying that us playing “Jump Around” after the 2021 win would be extra motivation for them the following year. Spoiler alert, they lost anyway. Teams really shouldn’t need bulletin board material to get fired up for a rivalry imo.

Only thing I'll say in support of the 2007 Gophers in claiming this title was I think Wisconsin has played a lot tougher teams. The 07 Gophers lost 3 non-conference games to a Bowling Green, FAU & NDSU & needed OT to sneak by another MAC team & the Big Ten was not great that year. Wisconsin is going through such a gauntlet this year I almost feel sorry for them.....ALMOST.

Plus as was touched on in another thread last week, we had a guy fumble the ball without being touched attempting to return a blocked FG.

For comparison, the last year I had season tickets was the (underwhelming) 1983 squad. The point differential for our 1-10 season was 518-181, or a total of 337 points.

A lot of bad Metrodome beer was consumed that fall.......

A lot of one-score games that year and as much as I didn't hold Brewster responsible for everything that went wrong, I think his lack of experience (and trying to put square pegs in round holes with a completely new system) showed up throughout the season. Wisconsin has had injury issues, but I do wonder if Fickell is committing the same mistakes that Brewster did in revamping a successful system and not having the personnel to make the change seamless.

Even if they lose out and go 2-10 I'm not sure this season will deserve a spot on that list. They have an absolutely brutal schedule with potentially 4 CFP teams on it in Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State and Indiana.

There are 4 other teams besides Wisconsin with zero Big Ten wins so far and Wisconsin doesn't play any of them.

So as much as I hate to defend Wisconsin in any way....they have one of the toughest schedules I have ever seen this year.....and while it couldn't happen to a more deserving team it will be tough to consider them one of the worst ever in the conference when you factor in who they played this season.

Just keep in mind the Badgers players picked the Minnesota game as their guaranteed win.🤣

That was the first year I started paying attention to college football. My dad was running for political office and spent his Saturdays doing lit drops in the community while I sat in the car listening to the radio. It quickly became a "game" between us where he would drive to a street and in the ~10 minutes it took him to drop literature on the block he would come back and guess how many points our defense surrendered in that time.

Basically they saw us as the easiest game on their schedule. Might be 0-8 coming into the game and I'm sure they will still be a tough beat.
Can't ever take anyone for granted but I have watched a fair amount of this Badger team and they really don't look good in any phase of the game right now. Their offense is a complete mess and their defense is a shell of what it has been.

Given that the game is at home and they will most likely be even more beat down by that point then they already are and who knows maybe even playing for an interim coach.....it would be a really disappointing way to end the regular season with a home loss to this Badger squad.

Did they really think Maryland at home was tougher than Minnesota on the road? Beat them 24-7 at their place and that sticks with them being rivals. Still should beat them by two touchdowns but yes this thread is premature.

The Fadgers missed pursuing Lance Leipold by a year. I wouldn't be surprised if the UW Admin at least tries to throw a huge bag of coin at him sometime soon.

You mean the 61 year old who is 25-31 at his only power 5 stop and who is 9-10 in his last 19?
