There is absolutely no reason to worry about what is getting in the way of the process, because we don’t know if anything is getting in the way of the process. For all we know, everything is going exactly to plan.

We have reports that our first choice was Shaka...but we don’t know.
We have reports that Flip is not on our short list...but we don’t know.
We have reports that Norwood’s looking at younger guys...but we don’t know.
We have reports that Buzz Williams would never take this job....but we don’t know.
Some of us believe that Anthony Grant would be a great hire...but we don’t know.
Some of us believe that Anthony Grant would be terrible hire...but we don’t know.
Some (One? Two?) think that Tubby should’ve been given another chance...but we don’t know.

We just don’t know.

I know most of you have suffered through a lot of disappointment with the gophers over the years. I know I have. But this “woe is me” act has got to stop. This loser mentality and the expectation of failure permeates this fan base and athletic department and there is no way that it doesn’t affect the players’ psyches.

I think Gopherhole needs a couple of sessions from Tubby’s sports psychologist.

Everyone needs to calm down.

For every successful Fred Hoiberg, there are multiple guys( clyde drexler, sidney lowe, isaiah thomas, etc.) who failed miserably as coaches due to lack of experience at that level.

OH, so Clyde, Sidney and Isaiah WERE successful in the NBA, CBA and at a college?! I didn't know that?

Can you give me the examples of where those 3 WERE successful as a coach?

You might want to reread that post. I can't find where GopherGod ever stated the 3 were successful coaches in the NBA, CBA and college

I actually thought Geno may be a sneaky pick for NT. However, he just re-upped with UCONN.

So is he not sick anymore?

I think you are wrong about Flip not having the contacts for good assistants. However, if you are right- then that would be a great use for Villa 7 wouldn't it?? It's completely ridiculous to say that Flip A) can't coach college ball (Fred Hoiberg?) or B) can't find good assistants. You could get a great staff of young assistants looking for a succession possibility ala Painter at Purdue.

I didn't say Flip can't coach college ball in the sense that he that he doesn't understand the game. It's all moot though, because Flip ain't getting the job. Teague is going to hire someone from the college ranks.

It might be getting in the way of who some people want him to choose, but as far as a coaching search overall, of course it doesn't. He has a familiarity and personal knowledge of more basketball coaches than most ADs.

It's like saying, does getting a bunch of phone numbers from pretty girls hurt your chances to find a date? Nope.

Does being a Harvard alum hurt your chances of finding a job, I mean, you're limited to only those well connected Harvard types? No.

It's a resource.

The more I learn about this V7 thing the more I am understanding how it can be effective. It seems like more of a networking group than anything else. I'll put my trust behind Norwood and company. No reason not to, I guess.
