Is Rutgers a Possible Trap Game?

Solid analysis, I believe. Mn favored by 3 over the Ilini was very strange, especially when they are opening at 4 to 6 vs Rutgers.

I wonder how much the close game tendencies for MN affect the line?

They certainly should since four of our six conference games have been one score games including 3 of our 4 conference wins. It's possible that we could have a game closer to the Maryland spread but I doubt it at this point.

I actually think a result similar to Maryland is a definite possibility as long as we don't make critical mistakes like turnovers or killer penalties. If we play clean we win this one and probably pretty convincingly.

The two teams are trending in complete opposite directions. We are coming in on a winning streak and playing really good complementary football. They are on a losing streak and not playing well at all in any phase.

They got blown out at home by Wisconsin. They were down 10 at home against UCLA until they scored a late TD to pull to within 3 and they got beaten soundly by USC. They are not playing well at all right now and their lone Big Ten win came for the most part because Washington could not make field goals.

All the caveats apply.....we can't just show up and expect to beat them....but if we play the way we have been playing over the past month this game will not be close.

It’s no guaranteed win but I would never call it a trap game.

Rutgers will be coming off a bye week and getting a bit healthier after a lot of injuries. They could definitely pose problems.

And there is the Kaliakmanis revenge angle. Minnesota teams always seem to roll over for ex players.

I’ll be nervous, as always 😬

Every game is a trap game.

Do you disagree?

I will take our defense over theirs and I will take our offense over theirs. Just a personal opinion obviously Some Guy disagrees with which is cool.
Was responding to your response based on Some Guys post. Go back and read.

Edit: I don't disagree. Just wasn't clear to me on your response to his post.

What scares me is that every year for the past three years the gophers have blown a game that everyone expect them to win and this feels like one of those games. Hopefully this team is different. I feel like if we get behind that we have a quarterback that can get us points..

The thing that scares me about this game is that the difference between the 20th best team in the country and the 75th is what day it is and about 4-5 plays.

So even though Minnesota is playing better, 2-3 plays and it’s close.

This feels like they going to boat race Rutgers. Monangai is beat up, AK can’t carry the team and will fold up like a cheap suit with a bit of pressure. The MN offense is improving. Let’s see what happens.
