Is Nate Wolters an NBA Player?

You think Wolter's is jacked for tonight...??? then Austin and Andre are both just as jacked to shut him down. Wolter's has a frustrating night and struggles to score 14.

If Wolters was healthy I would LOVE to take this bet. If they held him to 14 when he was healthy SDSU might not score 45

NBAdraft.net has him two spots below Rodney in the second round, going 36th I believe. I have seen him in the first round on other sites too. So my conclusion is that he will absoultely get drafted either late first or early second round. His time in the NBA depends on what team drafts him and how hard he works after being drafted.

44.8%, while using the majority of your team's possessions and taking a good number of threes, is not in any way, shape, or form a bad shooting season. He needs to work on his outside shot, but he was plenty efficient last year.

He's going to get a shot in the NBA, whether it be he gets drafted or as an UDFA, and I'll be rooting for him.

The line is still at 15 on scoresandodds.com. Lists Wolters' status as ?.

How won't it hinder him? NBA players can be lock-down defenders against inferior athletes but its hard to shut down guys like Derrick Rose and Lebron James because they are so gifted. I won't go off on a long speech about people saying NBA players don't play defense but when you look at other dominant college kids from bigger conferences they have REALLY struggled because they couldn't score on or defend certain positions. Former Badger great Alando Tucker comes to mind and he was an all-american.

NBA players are unbelievably good. They are better than college players in every way except the style they play which is dictated by coaches and having elite players on teams. Why would you not isolate LeBron, Durant, Kobe, etc?

Id consider Rubio an inferior athlete to a vast majority of NBA players, yet when guards try to get up into him he goes by them, so it hasnt seemed to hinder him much. Im not saying he will have nearly the impact as rubio, but the athletically inferior can can still be very successful in the nba.

From the the write-up attached he seemed to be rising up most draft boards and was one of the better players at this camp loaded with major conference talent.

Intriguing player nonetheless. Wish he would have played tonight so we could have seen how the gophers would have handled him this year, as they have struggled mightily with good, penetrating point guards in the past.

Kind of bummed I didn't get to see him play. He wouldn't have been a difference maker tonight with how Andre played (which is a good thing), but it would have been fun to see him play in the Barn. Too bad.

I would really like to see Wolters in the NBA and based on the early season NBA mock drafts it looks like he will get the chance to do so. With that being said He is a nice player;however, he has certainly benefited from his situation in the Summit. I cannot help, but wonder what kind of numbers Dre would be able to put up playing in the same league. All in all, I am excited to see what the future holds for Wolters, but if forced to pick between he and Dre it would be a tough decision!

NBA scouts:
1. do you have an NBA skill (shotblocking, shooting, passing)
2. Can you guard an NBA position?
3. Are you a tweener? to small for a position but not quick enough for another.

There was a lot of buzz about this guy during last season's build up to March Madness. 21ppg and leading his team to the top of the "Summit" and all.

But after closer examination, I noticed he actually had a poor shooting season, especially from 3 point range...He only shot 24% last season from beyond the Arc and 44 % overall....Not exactly NBA material for a shooting or combo guard. But this year, he's off to a better start and has his shooting numbers up to 42 from 3 and 49 overall.

Does anybody see him making a roster and carving out a Fred Hoiberg type career?
Played 30 Minutes for Buck last night. All the folks that said he could not play or star for the gophs because of where he played...hopefully learned that it is not where you play that matters but... How You Play

Shot 25% from the floor and only had 4 assists to go along with that abysmal FG Percentage. Why don't we let this one play out a little bit longer, pal.

As a Bucks fan I can tell you he is the 3rd PG. Knight and Ridnour are hurt.

Are we debating whether or not he would have been viable Gopher or is he an NBA player????

I think the answer is obviously yes in both, no?

Is he a star? Likely not.

Perhaps I missed it, but I don't recall a single person saying that.

That was never the argument, the argument was would Wolters had developed into the player he is, had he gone to the U off the bat. SDSU gave him minutes and shots from day one, his frosh year, he would've battled Nolen, Joeseph, Cobbs and may be even Allen for PG minutes. As an upperclassmen he would've had to battle Dre Hollins for PT. I think he would've contributed and had been a nice player here, like Nolen was or at best Eric Harris, but he would not have made it to the NBA. For some guys being the man at a mid major is the best way to develop and it worked for Wolters, good for him. Were you harping about us not recruiting him back in '09? Doubt it, hindsight's 20/20 and that year we had a top 15 class

I fail to see anything at all regarding where Nate Wolters played.

My argument never had anything to do with whether Tubby should have recruited him. My beef wasn't with Tubby. My beef was with the folks on this board who watched him play (what he was doing/did @ SDSU) and were too blind to see that Wolters was a big-time college basketball player. It just so happens that he didn't play at a big-time school.

Best of luck to the young man. Hope he survives and sticks around the NBA for a long time. And if he doesn't, he still had one heck of a college career.

True, he was a big ten caliber player, obviously, but would you acknowledge that he made the right choice, got to be the man for four years, where if he had come here he would not have been used the same way and probably would've been overlooked by the NBA scouts

How is your memory now! What people need to understand is that SDSU's offense revolves around Wolters. During the Gopher-SDSU game anytime another jack rabbit touched the ball they looked to see what Wolters was doing then looked to shoot or attack. When the offense revolves around a certain player it is easy to put up big numbers, especially in a mid-major conference but this does not mean Wolters could be a star here. I will say he is a great player but as previously mentioned here he would not have been given the opportunity to flourish like he did at SDSU. I think at best he would be the 7th to 8th best player on the team. As much as people disagree with mid-majors to the big six, the summit league is quite different than the Big 10.....ber

They'd tell you that there is a reason he is playing ball at jackrabbit town.

I think he could be a quality point guard (more of a back up, imo). Have to give him more time. His Ts%.475 and eFG% .409.
