Is Matt Rhule a Better Coach than PJ Fleck? | The Adam Carriker Show

can tell we're in the doldrums of offseason and that PJ lives in the heads of Nebraska fans. It's literally not even remotely close that PJ is better than Rhule by basically every metric

Fleck:
30-22 at WMU with an initial 1-11, building to a 13-1 year and Cotton Bowl bid
66-44 at Minnesota, 7 straight bowl wins, peak an 11 win season and #10 overall final ranking
Overall 96-66 (.592)

Rhule:
28-23 at Temple with initial 2-10 building to a 10-3 before leaving for Baylor
19-20 at Baylor with a peak year of 11-3 where they lost to every ranked team they played
Went to NFL at Carolina where he was terrible for 3 years, going 11-27 (got fired at 1-4 in his 3rd year and team went 6-6 the rest of the way)
19-19 at Nebraska where he's gone 0-2 H2H with PJ
Overall 66-62 (.516)

In what world is it even a debate? He's been a complete bust at Nebraska thus far despite the resources and hype, his peak year at Baylor he gets credit for getting to a conf title game where they lost. People talk about it like it was a successful year but that Oklahoma team was ass (they got housed by LSU 63-28 in the CFP). Add to it PJ has owned him on game day each time we've played and it's hilarious to even discuss.

Pretty much made the same point in another thread. Fleck had better production at the Group of 5 level, and has been better at Minnesota than what Rhule's done at Baylor and Nebraska. The fact that Nebraska still has advantages in terms of recruiting and name recognition is another point in Fleck's favor, too.

What recruiting advantages does Nebraska currently have over MN?

What recruiting advantages does Nebraska currently have over MN?
really i think all that remains is the following

Dads who still wear starter jackets and think Nebraska is a blue blood
maybe a couple million in NIL (max). they're way closer to us than they are to OSU, Oregon, Michigan
they are geographically closer to recruiting hot beds in the south and culturally closer to them
college sports is king in Nebraska comparatively

I think anyone who thinks they're anywhere near the other blue bloods in terms of NIL dollars is mistaken and I'd say what we've seen in the portal and in recruiting fits that pretty well
