The kid everybody hated on Leave it to Beaver. Dakish made the comment that nobody jumped up to greet EE when he came to the bench after the dive on the floor. Rodney acted like he wasn't even there after he sat down right next to him.
I wonder if the boys don't like his constant whining on the court after a call against him? Just asking.

Probably not smart to speculate on something we have no knowledge of. May have just been a case that we were losing and spirits weren't high at the time. Who knows.

Good question. But I don't see that he has cornered the market on "whining" regarding fouls...look at coach (insert almost any name here). I see his contention as a measure of his competitiveness and I kind of like it. Recall that Tubby has taken a raft of sh*t recently for his seeming lack of emotion. Dakish noted a lack of recognition by teammates for his floor effort and I can't dispute that observation.

Garbage post. You chose to start a topic suggesting that the rest of the team hates Elliot (completely unfounded) because of his "whining" (which I also don't accept as fact. The kid was jobbed over & over all season on calls & non calls. He should have bitched a lot more than he did imo.). Elliot's gonna be damned good, stop internet hating on the Freshman & enjoy the ride.

You are taking this much farther than you need to. Oh no, they didn't give him a high-five they must hate him!

"Hello Mrs. Cleaver...I'm here to see the Beaver." Naw...don't be call'in our EE an Eddie Haskell.

I didn't view it that way at all. I thought it was more a reflection of the bench (coaches too) lack of energy/emotion on the sidelines. Tubby did give Eliason a quick pat on the back (and Tubby was up off of his seat), but nobody else seemed very energized. Even late in the game (possibly in OT) Dakich commented on the lack of enthusiasm coming from the bench while noting that the players actually on the court ("the ones who mattered") were really getting after it.

I do think Eliason complains too much and needs to do a better job picking and choosing when to argue (or at least not be so demonstrative when he argues). This habit will catch up with him in the form of increased bad calls. That said, it's a breath of fresh air to see a 7 footer hustling the way EE did today.

Who the hell really knows, but IMO it shows how fragile this team is. It looked like a, "Here we go again," reaction from a bunch of guys who were thinking they were going to lose. They apparently didn't see Northwestern when they handed the game to Michigan or they would have known all was not lost.

What better Gopher big as a freshman didn't play in the NBA. Rickert?

"Ward, you were awfully rough on the beaver last night."

Just watched the highlights on BTN. The gopher bench is cheering on just about every play.

If Dakich was less obsessed with "bench emotion" and trash talking instead of winning games he might still have a coaching career.

Think about all the close losses they've had. It's not surprising if they kinda went into a "here we go again" mode, cause it did look like "here we go again" for a while there. They aren't thinking about NW and all their struggles late in games at that point. I missed that specific moment, but it was probably just one of those caught at the wrong moment times. I've thought the bench has held decent emotion during games for the most part considering the circumstances. They could be in a lot worse shape after having two straight 6-12 conference seasons.

Okay, I just watched that part of the game....Dakich really overreacted to that. I'm not sure why he thought they would be hyped cause he came to the bench, they were already irritated with the foul call in the first place. And they were definitely not vibing at that very moment. Yeah, they could have been a little more animated I guess, but considering the time of the game, they definitely looked frustrated.

I think Dakich was just reaching hard to figure out why we've sucked so much. I don't think that moment was a reflection of why we've been losing, except for the fact that confidence was probably shaky at that point.

Hating on a freshman? Where is the hating. I just asked the question Rican. Don't let your political views get in the way of selective reading. Jeez...

You're hating by saying all of his teammates hate him.

I was just laughing to myself at what an idiot Dakich was making of himself. He said something to the effect of "that's what's wrong with the Gophers this year." I just kept thinking to myself, oh that's why we went 6-12? I was thinking it might have had something to do with no Trevor, an inability to close out games, and a young team. But I guess it's cause we don't slap each other on the ass when we head to the bench.

Agree... besides why does he need a standing O for doing his job. Getting after it (on the floor) is why their school is free. Maybe the Gopher reaction was "buisness like."

At 11:25 in the second half, EE fell to the ground and there were four players immediately there to help him up. Dakish over-blew this situation. With that being said, the constant whining is a embarrassing and hopefully will change as he matures.

I honestly don't even notice the constant whining you guys talk about...

If you don't notice Elliott whining after every...single...foul call against him, you haven't been paying attention. There is a place for complaining about getting jobbed by the refs (and there have been more than a few questionable calls against him this season), but it loses its effectiveness when you act as though someone murdered your dog after every...single...foul call. He has the Tim Duncan "who...me???" look down to a science, but he's a freshman in the Big Ten, not one of the greatest basketball players in history.

One of my twitter followers asked about the hand shaking skills of next year's freshmen. I laughed.

I am not a long time gopher and think fans in general can be too sensitive about announcers and refs.

with that said - Dakish was horrible. 2 coaches gave him a pat and 1 of the 2 players he actually passed on the bench stuck out their hand. it was pretty subdued but there was reaction when he came to the bench.

he also went on and on about how it's the reason minnesota isnt good....then minnesota beat the "scrappy" northwestern team.

you want to talk overrated - let's talk northwestern. Minnesota should be on the bubble if that team is.

I think Dakich is still p.o.ed @losing to Minny in the last game he coached, thanks to Hoff's last second shot!
